Prep: warm wash and bloom water
    Lather: Dusy Kabinett
    Razor: Ikon B1 Standard
    Brush: TGN Synthetic
    Blade: Astra SP (3)
Post: cool rinse and Old Spice

4th shave with the Ikon B1 standard head razor. 2 passes - WTG &XTG with a little touch up to the jawline. The results were very good and this was my first without a weeper with this razor. It is definitely an aggressive razor yet with just a little respect can be tamed easily. I think I like it.

    Razor: Orak TTO

    Excellent BBS in two passes!
  3. Hello Darkbulb, is that a Tredera? I don't know if I spelled that right. What kind of razor is it if not?

  4. Well spotted and yes it is - it's the OC version of the Tradere
I did a rambling write-up w/ pictures over here if you want to see more of it :)

This takes classy SOTD photos to a new level.
    Very well done!

  5. image.jpeg Razor: Merker Futur Polished Chrome 2015 (1.5)
    Brush: Vintage Ever-Ready 675 badger
Mug: Old Spice 1985 Cobalt Blue
    Cream: Truefitt&Hill No 10
    Blade: Feather (2)
Post shave: Thayers Cucumber WH, Jack Black balm, Old Spice Lime original Shulton AS Frosted Glass 1960s

Put a dab of Truefitt&Hill No 10 into my favorite OS mug. The old Ever-Ready whipped up some nice warm lather. My Futur is a great looking razor, and I'm leaving it on 1.5 as it works will for me. It has a nice weight and good balance, and surprisingly the polished surface is not slippery to hold. The head is large, covering the entire blade, but because of it's shape, shaves smaller, and you don't have to worry about catching an edge. It made quick work in 2 passes WTG XTG. A little touchup on my neck ATG and done. I had enough lather left over for another pass. The WH felt good, nice and cool. After cleanup some JB and when it dried, some Old Spice Lime original Shulton AS from the 1960s. Y'all have a good one!

    Straight Feather Goose Focus

    January 5

For January I'm focusing on two razors, the W.B. Speed Rabbit TSR and the Mongoose, on loan from @Rufus T. Since the Goose uses AC blades I'm using the Feather Pros.

    Razor - W.B. Speed Rabbit
    Brush - BoS Omega 10066
    Soap - Mitchell's Wool Fat
Post - Cold Water, Alum, Nivea, The Veg

Another day on the Rabbit and it's also head shave day today. So, started with the Merkur 23c and VDH Deluxe to smooth out the ol' cue ball and then switched to the BoSFat for the main event. Stropping is getting more automatic and I'm finally feeling comfortable rolling the razor toward the spine. I should say it is more automatic and natural feeling. Lathered up and immediately rinsed and did it again. Added more water to my face and the lather as the first touch of the razor felt dry. Better on the re-lather so the first pass was off and running. I am moving faster now as well as making some instinctive changes in blade position and angle. Starting to feel like I'm shaving instead of learning to shave. Worked around the goatee more than normal in order to really get that area done. Second pass was XTG and ATG on the neck. Went another partial pass just to touch up areas around the goatee, along jawline and neckline. Very nice DFS appeared. I'll take it!

Very satisfying to have that kind of a result today and to find so many things feeling more natural. The learning curve on a TSR is definitely high, and I think higher than a pain stick. But, so far I've had only a couple of weepers total so the advantage of honed steel over manufactured blades is showing! Not sure if tomorrow will be Goose or Rabbit. I'll decide that in the morning. Enjoy your Tuesday!

Today is my daughter's 34th birthday. Don't know how she got that old when I'm still 19. Anyway, here's a picture of her at two weeks old along with some spaced out hippy dude.

    Blade: Gillette 7 O'clock Super Platinum (5)
Brush: Fendrihen Silver Tip Badger Black handle
    Soap: Route 66 Sweeney Todd
    A/S: Lucky Tiger

I have to work on my technique with this razor. I don't have much experience with the Tech. I have only use the Tech occasionally. Great soap and A/S.

  10. It's been a month or so since I tried out my Type H and reported on how impressed I was with it. So I thought I'd try it again today. Well, it anything, it was as good as or better than last time. Just as close and easy to use and smooth as I remember. This time there was a little less clogging as I changed lathers and it was less thick than before. It was a great match for the H.

Not much to add. If you don't have an H you should get one. Yes, YMMV and all that but this is one outstanding razor. :happy036:

    Obsession For Men EdT

I'm working really hard to get this Omega brush broken in so it can start doing the job on my soaps. In the meantime the Bulgarian-produced SuperMax Menthol cream is a fine choice - great scent with rich, easy-to-build lather and a relatively mild, but nice cooling effect. The Gold Bond moisturizer has plenty of extra cooling to it, and I think after tomorrow the Aqua Velva will need to be replaced. There's enough for just one more good splash, perhaps two. This Derby blade is really giving me amazing shaves! ;) :D

  14. Oh, I forgot to mention how wonderful this Stirling pre-shave soap is! :D
  15. Tuesday, first shave with my new Blackbird. I used a Polsilver blade for a two pass near BBS shave. Hopefully you all had a good day!

  16. •Walmart Wilkie blade
    •LC NEW (1st pass)
    •Red Tip (2nd pass)
•blue Pears mint/menthol soap from Dollar Tree

The soap is both weird and disappointing. It lathered up with a big volume (good) of non-dense/fluffy/airy/frothy, almost dry-ish lather (not so good). Still, it was usable. The problem I do have is that there was zero - and I mean ZERO - discernible menthol or even mint sensation during or after the shave. The scent in interesting - I can't describe it - but nothing special. The bar is a pretty shade of blue, though, so there's that. I guess. I would not buy again, definitely not as a shave soap.

    Anyway, BBS.

    Wednesday's
    ZCOLDWATER.jpg

    Dove Men Face Wash
    Arko Stick
    Semogue Owners Club
    Schick E
    Personna
    CWR, Asma Alum Block
    Thayers Rose Petal WH
    Pinaud Clubman

The Arko Shave Soap face-lathered well with my Semogue Owners Club boar brush. Two passes with my Schick E injector razor and a Personna Stainless blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, alum block, and a final cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Rose Petal WH and then Pinaud Clubman after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
