1. :happy102 my nose didn't get that, but as I mentioned, the smell is horrendous
  2. For me the scent of C&E Almond is not almond but not that bad either. In fact get great shaves with it. I enjoy the three T's creams with at least one favorite in each brand.

  3. C&E Sienna is one of my faves. Never tried the almond, but now I think I won't.
  4. I'll echo what others have said about the Fraser. Mild lemon-lime scent that doesn't last past the shave. But a really nice cream, gives me super shaves every time.

I also am a big Florena fan. If I do go for another cream, it will be from a trip to the local C&E shop. Or the local Truefitt & Hill if I'm feeling reckless financially.
  5. Good morning all, I'll offer my current favorites to yoru new site. They will change tomorrow, and again the day after that:D

    Rose: TOBS
    Lavender: Harris / TOBS
    Almond: Harris / GFT
    Avocado: TOBS
    Lime: GFT / CF

Honorable mention for Harris Arlington, which I am still getting used to. The cream scent differs considerably from the A/S milk and cologne. More fern, less lime. It's growing on me though. I used to be quite a fan of the C&E almond until our building started using a soap in the restroom with the same scent. It still performs extremely well but the product is pretty much ruined for me now. Best of luck with the new site.
  6. I definitely love my CF Lavender as well as Olivias Cremes, TOBS Avocado/Sandalwood and Trumpers Rose.

  7. Welcome Jeff!!! Glad to see you!!
  8. Another great cream is Wars, if you can find it...or Pollena Lider, both of these creams are made in Poland.

    Jeff
  9. I finally got around to trying the C&E sweet almond. Fergie graciously sent me a sample (thanks again, Michael), but right about the time I received it, I caught a cold and didn't want to try it until I could really smell things again.

I tried it this morning. The lather was tremendous. The smell? Well, I don't hate it, but it is almost TOO sweet. It almost smelled like Aqua Net hairspray or something. But I will definitely use up the sample, because the lather is GREAT!
  10. Blair, the lather is sumptious to say the least. For that alone, that cream's a delight. I also find the skincare A-1 for my skin, which is ultra-fragile.

  11. The Vulfix shave creams never seem to get much ink in forums, but this was the first one I ever tried and I still like it. I use the Lavender flavor - it has a semi runny consistency but lathers like mad, shaves very well, and does a pretty good job of moisturizing too.

I use soaps most of the time but would buy the Vulfix cream again after I try MB Sandalwood Vanilla.
  12. Dave,

I had forgotten about the Vulfix creams 'til you mentioned them. I've never tried them but would definitely consider ordering some Lavender sometime in the future. I've tried many Lavenders, but have not yet tried the Vulfix.

Maybe some others who've tried it can chime in with some feedback.
  13. The Vulfix creams are very good....well the lavender anyway. Very slick and protective.
  14. My favourite so far is Trumper's Violet. It's a lovely fresh smell to start the day with, and its moisturising properties are really good too. Super smooth shaves.

Trumper's Rose is good too, but I'm not all that keen on the perfume.

    Ted.
  15. Interesting. I find that Taylor's violet smells rather like cardboard. Works fine, just smells funny to me. Perhaps I'll have to give GFT a shot. I do like GFT's Rose and Lavender creams.

I guess I'd have to say my favorite lathering cream is C&E's Almond, but it's hard to shave while holding my nose. T&H's Grafton has to be my overall favorite. I LOVE the scent and the lather is very good. Maybe not as good as the C&E, but close enough.
  16. Glad to hear your feeling better, Blair. And you're quite welcome. I was worried about the lathering properties of the Almond I sent you...the container I put it in was from a sample of Caswell-Massey! :p I washed it out well before putting the C&E in, but you never know. I COULD NOT make lather with the C-M!! Wound up rinsing the brush and starting over with a real shave cream!

I think it's time to try some C&E Sandalwood (since JoAnna HATES HATES HATES Nomad). ;)
  17. How funny a description of Trumper's Violet..."smells like cardboard." Well that's certainly not the most extreme description of I've ever heard of the GFT Violet...some liken it to the "scent of a harlot's handbag."

I can only refute the "smell of cardboard." GFT Violet was one of the first two creams I bought when I returned to wetshaving in mid 2005. It has turned out to be one of my favorite creams and I absolutely love the scent. But, as we say so many times in wetshaving, YMMV.
  18. Yeah well, I got 'em backwards! It's the GFT Violet that smells like cardboard to me! I can't keep 'em straight...guess I'll have to order more!!!!!!! :drool
  19. Another positive post for Vulfix Lavendar. It provides very good cushion in the lather. I bought mine @ QED, and it is definitely priced competitively.
  20. Erasmic, and Proraso. JM Fraser's. Nancy Boy, etc.

Oh, and just about all of the Taylor's. And the Trumper's I've tried. And the couple of T&H I've tried too.

    ...just about everything. :drool

MamaBear needs to release a super-duper-ultra-menthol soap and cream. Perhaps a Menthol/Peppermint/Menthol/Eucalyptus/Menthol/Menthol soap and cream combo ... "MamaBear's Superlather Menthol Insanity." Probably have to be kept in the freezer.
