Your soap made my morning shave wonderful. The smell and feel is invigorating. I like to give credit where it's due.

Odin's Day: Day 1 of my second blade tryouts
Prep: Hot Shower, Nivea Moisturizing Face Wash
    Brush: Simpsons 56 Best Badger
    Lather: Ginger's Garden Lavender (Herbal)
    Razor: RazoRock Bamboozled RAKE OC
    Blade: Schick-Premium (1)
    Passes: WTG, XTG, XTG (1, 2, 3)
Post: Cold water rinse, Bloc Osma alum, Ginger's Garden Lavender (Herbal) aftershave splash
    Cologne: Xeryus by Givenchy

First things first; I'll establish the parameters of my tryouts. I'll be testing the blades from most expensive to least expensive, because I needed some sort of order to them. Because I can almost always get a comfortable 2-pass shave without issue these days, I'll be stretching these blades out by going for 3-passes, as that seems a more legitimate test. I will also be trying each blade in 3 different razors: the Bamboozled RAKE, the Merkur 41c, and the Gillette Black Handled SS, since some blades perform better paired with certain razors. Each blade will be binned after 3 shaves, 9 passes. I will also have some variance in soaps, brushes, and post-shave products, so I am sure some would consider this test less than perfect. Be that as it may, on to the shave.

The Lavender (Herbal) soap lathered much better in its second use than in its first, giving ample slick lather for all 3 passes now that it's better seated in the container and better hydrated. The Schick-Premium DE blade - which I don't recall seeing here at SOTD (edit: apparently @macaronus uses these?) - felt very sharp against my skin, perhaps sharper than the Bic. It was not ideally smooth, however, and I paid extra attention to a light touch on each pass. There were no nicks, no weepers, and no real irritation, just a little tenderness around the jowls and some hot spots from the alum. The aftershave provided the wonderful skincare I expected, cooling the hot spots quickly. Over all, DFS+ results from a very sharp blade and a fairly cautious shave.

Mike's is my favorite shave soap (with Cold River soaps a close second). Mike's in particular is easy to get that wet sheen in the lather.

I used my other new brush restore today, the Pure Badger. Not a bad brush, soft but still just a tad floppy for my taste, but not bad. It is better than my first PB that I did, so it will be in the rotation and used.

As for the shave, this was day two with the Wilkinson Sword blade in the tech. Again I got some irritation and a couple nicks. I had 5 shaves on my Astra and was still better than these first two on the WS. I'm debating one more day with the Wilkinson or just toss it and put another blade in.

Overall a decent shave with some pretty good stinging from the Clubman.

Just toss it buddy. Blades are cheap enough. Put a new one in and enjoy yourself. :)

I've been searching for a long time but even the ones in less than desirable condition are commanding high prices. The search continues...

Agreed. It gets me out of using the same razors over and over. I don't neglect if I use that method.

But I will always have my favorites that I gravitate towards.

Haha yes it is. Actually most that I have r the originals. They last FOREVER. there is a lot of soap life in those tins!

The Blackbird gave me another great shave. It definitely feels like it could bite, but it hasn't. The Plisson has broken in so that any sense of scritch or prickle is very mild; the performance is outstanding. Of course the LGC is just a great soap, scent and performance. Yep, this was an excellent shave. Hope yours is/was as well.
