Check this ridiculous ad. If this sells, mine goes on the market for $500. Seller has the audacity to call this NOS. CAVEAT EMPTOR. http://www.ebay.com/itm/GILLETTE-CO...24e3087&pid=100009&rk=1&rkt=1&sd=301219586646
Well, the blades at least, are NOS. Problem is, you'd have to open the blades to check the date codes against the razor. I don't see plating loss on the razor, but it doesn't exactly look 'unused.' ...and two pictures for a $500 item is really . Just saying...
This is part of people taking advantage of the wetshaving movement and our hobby. These people will sit and wonder why oh why isn't my awesome razor selling? Morons
I see these outrageous prices from time to time both online and in the wild and simply remark "guess you"ll be keeping that for a while". If they ask why, I just say "these use to be $1.95 50 years ago so they may be this asking price in 50 more."
we aren't getting any closer to 1958, would the people who bought a brand new 68 camaro be shocked at what complete ragged out shells sell for today?
The way I look at it, at the end of the day it's just a razor, a simple piece of metal. Yes, it's worth whatever someone wants to pay for it. To ask $500 seems crazy and might very well be preying on certain individuals. That's not us!
The madness doesn't end there. He wants 29.75 for shipping! Really guy!! You know what's worse!?! There's one born every minute.
I don't think he is mad for trying to sell a FatBoy for that much money(free enterprise). I do think whoever pays that much for it is "COMPLETELY INSANE" however!! However as @Robyflexx said I also find it kind of ballsy and just plain greedy to charge $30 shipping. I hope there is a special place for people like that.
I'm a regular browser on eBay and have seen this seller's stuff languish month after month. He's just trolling for the big fish.
Sometimes don't you just wish there was a better way to communicate with the seller besides the "ask a question" format? Just to see what goes on in a guy's head?
Prices on line have gone up on the last year. Probably due to a renewed interest in Traditional shaving. It think it's just a way to keep the prices climbing. Not to long ago you fined that razor for under 100 bucks. It's not uncommon to see an asking price of $125+ any longer. There are other products on the auction sites that are the same way. Just my opinion. ... To be continued... Don
I remember when I first started traditional shaving that I passed on at least 100 fatboy's at $40.00.....Fatboys don't suck, but they are severely over rated IMO and anywhere over $50.00 bucks for one is robbery, even at their extremely quality on the build and materials. I am glad folks are learning how to shave this way but this retarded bubble that has been created is just idiotic, IMO.
