    Dove Men Face Wash
    Arko Stick
    Semogue Owners Club
    Schick E
    Personna
    CWR, Asma Alum Block
    Thayers Rose Petal WH
    Pinaud Clubman

The Arko Shave Soap face-lathered well with my Semogue Owners Club boar brush. Two passes with my Schick E injector razor and a Personna Stainless blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, alum block, and a final cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Rose Petal WH and then Pinaud Clubman after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

    SOTD January 7, 2016

    Prep: Warm shower
    Blade: Rapira Swedish Supersteel (4)
    Razor: Wet Shave Club 3-piece
Brush: Satin Tip 'The Purest' synthetic
    Lather: Proraso White
Post: Witch hazel splash, Nivea sensitive balm
    WTG, XTG, minor touch-up

This is the fourth day with this combination and it works well. Proraso continues to be a great soap. I went with two quick passes and minor touch-up in the neck and jaw areas. CCS results.

    Have a great day!

    Hello All, today's SOTD as follows;

    Parker 96R razor.
    Personna Platinum Chrome blade.
    Omega Boar Travel Brush.
    Cella shaving soap.
    Avon Mesmerize post shave conditioner.
    Avon Mesmerize cologne.

For tonight's shave I went with a modern razor, and since my travel brush hasn't been fully broken in yet, I dug it out too. I have to say these Omega travel brushes are pretty good brushes. I loaded it up for 10 or so seconds, and it held enough lather for two full passes. And the Parker razor isn't too bad for a modern razor either. I think I paid around $32 shipped for it a year or so ago, and I would say it was worth that. It is a little more aggressive than my Super Speeds, but not overly so. All in all I had a good shave. A two pass BBS with no touch ups. Here's the photo-

    Straight Feather Goose Focus

    January 6

For January I'm focusing on two razors, the W.B. Speed Rabbit TSR and the Mongoose, on loan from @Rufus T. Since the Goose uses AC blades I'm using the Feather Pros.

    Razor - W.B. Speed Rabbit
Brush - Wolf Whiskers Custom Silvertip
    Soap - Tabac
Post - Cold Water, Alum, Nivea, The Veg

Another day on the Rabbit. Changed the brush to the WW Silvertip and the soap to Tabac. I've had this puck for longer than I remember at this point and don't use it in a tight rotation but man it seems like it's almost brand new. When does this soap run out? Never? Not complaining, it's just one of the traits that keeps this soap in the slot just below MWF.

Two passes was the plan and I got a good shave on those passes. Went ahead and did a third that was mostly finishing up around the goatee and some other touchup. Decent DFS so calling it a very nice shave. No blood or other problems. A bit faster than normal so the speed is getting there. Not giving myself too much credit lest the next time turns the tide in the favor of pain. I'll take this one and move on. Back to the Goose tomorrow.

Still early to tell but I think its now just a matter of finding the right blade. With it being mild I think a sharper blade (IE Feather) might be the direction I should be taking. After shaving almost exclusively with aggresive SE razors lately, its going to take some time to get used to. I can easily shave ATG without risk of irritation which Im liking a lot. Im glad I tried the Mongoose first as the Pils doesnt seem heavy at all in comparison.

I love the looks of that handle!

Thanks! You'll see that in today's pic I opened the tub to show the contents in the mirror. ;)

That razor head looks massive! And neat!

Day #2 of the seven day exploration: Barbieri di Figaro Classico shaving soap

    Prep
    : hot shower
    Brush: vintage DVH boar
Soap: Barbieri di Figaro Classico shaving soap
Razor: Gillette Slim (birth quarter) @9
    Blade: Schick platinum blade
    Shave: 3-pass
Post: DVH alum, hand strop blade & reload upside-down

    SoS 2016-01-07 a.jpg

    The soap:
It is about as soft as Cella, with a light and fresh classic barbershop scent (in my view ;)) .

    Ingredients:
    • Stearic acid
    • Aqua
    • Cocos nucifera oil
    • Potasium hydroxide
    • Sodium hydroxide
    • Parfum (fragrances)
    • Corylus avellana nut oil
    • Alpha isomethyl ione
    • Benzyl benzoate
    • Butylphenyl methylpropional
    • Coumarin
    • Eugenol
    • Hexyl Cinnamal
    • Idroxycitronellal
    • Limonene
    • Linalool
Quite a list. I haven't the foggiest idea what most of the ingredients are, but at least it seems a veg soap. :)

    Lathering:
The brush loads quickly and forms lather as quickly as Cella.
    SoS 2016-01-07 b.jpg

    Shave:
Again the lather is nice and slick like Cella and the cushioning is allright, but it differs to Cella in that after the pass the slickness is gone. Cella leaves some slickness after the pass.

    After the shave:
A little bit more alum sting than the TFS soap (but perhaps the lather or the shave itself was a bit off), scent dissipates fairly quickly.

    Overall verdict:
This is a nice enough soap of good quality which lathers easily, but since it is more than double the price of the TFS or Cella I don't think I'll renew the tub once it is empty.

    Shave result:
    DFS+. :)

    Have a great day, ya'll!

The question has been asked many times, and I could answer it many ways. Right now, Lavanille is my favorite scent, so I could easily use this set up everyday. This shave was just superb in every way. SMS adds slickness and skin care pre shave, and my HIS XL really is a lather monster, whipping up yogurty goodness 28mm at a time. Der Futur has conquered my RAD with its combination of heft and efficiency giving me BBS sans drama most of the time. I've said before that Lavanille is a masterpiece and I stand by that assessment, enveloped in its complex lavender and de saxe-y delight.

    Prep: Shea Moisture Shave creme
    Soap: B&M Lavanille
    Brush: HIS XL
Razor: der Futur set on 5.5
    Blade: Astra SP
    AS: B&M Lavanille Tonique
