Yeah I'm actually going a shop to decide I'm going to buy two razors unfortunately they only stock merkur muhle and Edwin jäger three great brands but not much variety. I've decided on the futur and I'm stuck between the 37c slant or the r41 its seem you are also on an aggressive hunt I will look forward to the R41 post.

Early morning audible...game plan revised...Thursday's shave cancelled due to lack of visually discernible whiskers!
(actually, a hand inspection reveals very light growth in the usual high growth spots. A pass today provides a better challenge for a new blade on Friday.)
    Cheers!

Just when I was getting bored of easy BBS.
Didn't do so well tonight I'm BBS but by the end of my last pass there was a load of touch ups. I'm not sure how much frame of mind plays a role in the shave but I'm starting to think it matters, a lot. Throughout my entire shave I had a feeling I couldn't shake that I was performing badly. My passes and angle seemed right but in my mind I kept thinking this isn't Gona be a good one. It's not terrible but I have 3 areas of burn one of which on the back of my head which has never happened. Like I said I was getting bored of success. Perhaps the shave gods picked up on that. I hope you all had better experiences :)

I have those days that I just don't feel like on my "A" game. It usually ends with a shave that's not the best. The good thing is you always have the next shave to improve.

Razor: Gillette Super Speed No Date Code 1947 (Birth Year)
    Blade: Personna SS (1)
Brush: Fendrihen Silver Tip Badger Black handle
    Soap: Route 66 Sweeney Todd
    A/S: Fine American Blend

I moved away from my focus today and there is a good reason. The day progressed pretty much as usual for a Winter Thursday. Did some running around this morning, got my wife her paper and headed into the indoor golf school for a lesson and to hit some balls. Everything went great, even had time to share some thoughts with other club makers and practised my putting. Headed home had a good lunch of leftover Chinese food. Worked on a putter grip I've been developing, and that went well also. Pretty good day. I noticed the mail truck go by from my shop window, and waited a bit to go get the mail. We have a community mail boxes we use now after the snow plow kept wrecking ours mail boxes year after year.
Now some time ago @Boojum1 said he had sent me something which left the U.S. on December 16/15 and had gone to Postal heaven. We where both sure whatever it was had been lost. Off I got to get the mail. I opened the mail box door and there's a box in the mail along with a few letters and a magazine my wife gets. I don't have my reading glasses on so I'm trying to figure out what I might have ordered. Nothing came to mind.
Much to my surprise I was the gift that @Boojum1 had sent in early December. When I opened it I couldn't believe my eyes. A Gillette 1947 Super Speed in amazing condition. It looked like it was just made yesterday. Okay early December. :) Thank you Mark for this incredible gift. In Keeping with the rules of DE shaving, Rule # 47 you must use a razor that is send to you on the day you receive it. I used the Gillette 1947 with a Personna SS, Route 66 Sweeney Todd, and Fine American Blend after shave. An amazing razor, shave soap, and after shave for a perfect BBS.

It's a new lesson for me which is good for my development. In future if I'm not feeling it I will quit on a 2 pass.

When this happens to me, I set down the straight and pick up my Pre-War Tech. That razor is a mindless automatic shave, and it hasn't bitten me yet. Sometimes coming back to it later is a better bet.

+1. Like you and I discussed, I thought the postal black whole had eaten it for sure or at best it would be found during the spring thaw. ;)

My oh my, it's tough being you isn't it Douglas?!
You had me pining to be in your shoes, even before your mail arrived!
    Enjoy the great gift!

btw - I thought Rule #47 also applies to shaving soap as well, not just razors? At least that's how I handled a tub of 'Bourbon Jungle' that I recently received!
    Karma my friend, karma.
