Day 7 - 90 Day Intro to SR

Today I only added one more little nick to the collection. All things considered, a decent two pass plus FB touch up. I will take the blade back on the balsa tomorrow, seemed a little rough today. Really focused on skin stretching, and trying to shave well in general. It was cold and wet all day, glad to be home and clean shaven. Other than that, all is quiet in Colorado.

That's a beautiful razor. It's a beast, I wouldn't put that near my head with my current skill set.

I would call that a successful first week your post's are also encouraging to me. When I'm allowed one in a years time it might not be so terrifying. Glad your enjoying it.

Yeah - one week into it without having to rush to the hospital - that's successful in my book ;) :happy088:

Not sure if it's my post shave treatment or the 1924 is actually quite forgiving at heart, I woke this morning to find all burn had cleared up so I got away with my bad shave and was still left with a smooth shiny head for work. Have a good day all.

If bama samurai is anything like me he will think he has mastered it after two good shaves, and be brought swiftly back down to earth with plenty of blood. Something tells me he is wiser than that though.

    @Marverel
Looking forward to your R41 post today. It's really handy you are currently trying both razors that are on my radar.

Thing is: I actually wouldn't have to shave today, because yesterday's shave was so good. I can barely feel any stubbles. But selfless as I am I'll try the R41 anyways, for the sake of this forum and science in general.

    Phoenix Double OC
    Feather Hi-Stainless (1)
    Vulfix Super Badger (660)
    Mitchell's Wool Fat
    Georgetown G12 Scuttle
    Pinaud Clubman Original

First shave with my Phoenix DOC loaded with a Feather.
2 full passes: Pass 1 XTG. Pass 2: ATG. Both with very good reduction. Nicked a mole on my lower neck during my first pass. Charging myself with Operator error: it's just outside where my beard grows. Followed up my second pass with a small amount of touch up with the lather already on my face. A cool water rinse and a small amount of additional touch up and I captured the baby. The Pinaud Clubman stung a moderate amount today. The MWF left me with enough lather for at least another 2 passes.

A nice comfortable BBS with the MWF, Phoenix DOC, and the Feather (except for the nick). Once again I ended up shaving too close to a mole on my neck and paid the penalty. This is the first time I've ever shaved with a Feather. I found it to be very smooth and it cut very closely. I think I'm going to like this blade.

I hope everyone has a great Friday!

    Homemade PS Oil
    VDH Boar Brush
    Stirling Bay Rum SS
    Ontario Cutlery Co.
    Stirling Unscented PSB
    Stirling Bay Rum AS

By my math, this is my 15 shave with a straight razor, since I picked one up again in December. Overall, I definitely feel more comfortable, but I still have a long ways to go to be real comfortable. It has been very fun, though. Today, I got a DFS level on my face, probably closer to a CCS on my neck. I didn't work too hard on my neck this morning, but my technique definitely needs some work. The find skin stretching on my neck a bit more challenging, which is probably part of the problem, but I also need to work on some of the angles there.

I am looking forward to shave 16.

Razor – AlumiGoose with Triad Ti
Blade – Feather Super Pro (2)
Brush – Rubberset 400 with Omega knot
    Lather – Tiki Cabernet Neroli
Post - Witch Hazel followed by F&C Shambala

I decided to use a brush and soap that haven't been getting a lot of use. The big boar made short order of whipping up the Tiki into a nice slick lather. I really like the red wine and citrus scent of the soap. This is only my second time using the AlumiGoose so loaded with a Feather Super Pro I went with a traditional 3 pass shave allowing me to better compare it to yesterday's 3 pass shave with the Cobra. I ended up with a near BBS with very little in the way of touch ups. I would rate the shave for Closeness a solid A bordering on A+ and Irritation an A. I finished up with a splash of F&C Shambala to keep the citrus theme going.

This razor is considerably lighter than the Cobra Classic or the Mongoose and you can feel it as you shave. It's also much louder due I think to the material. I add to these initial impressions as I get a few more shaves with the AlumiGoose.

I hope everyone has a great Friday.

Let me have just a few more shaves with the R41 to evaluate it further and then I could lend you the head if you want - maybe we could even start a R41-head-passaround?

Hey 30DC!! Well I have posted or shaved in 3 days. I have a pulled rib on my left side, from coughing. :) and I'm in a great deal of pain. Luckily I have pain medication but man it just makes me sleepy.
So, I was up at 3:30 PST and shaved. It's was a very weird kinda shave, I did my first pass and had to sit down on my bed, went back and did my second pass, break, and finally finished with my third pass. I actually had a nice clean shave! The Aristocrat never has failed me. The Monsavon soap is super! I've had Avon Wild Country since August and hadn't used it, I mentioned it in another thread and Rich @richgem had said it reminded him of his dad, his dad had used Wild Country. So I gave it a try. I'm pleasantly surprised by how much I like it, it smells a bit like Clubman but better. The fact that it didn't wake my wife up from a dead sleep is a major plus, some Clubman aftershaves have ;)
