SG20K. Absolutely. I know you've been advised that you don't need one. In my own opinion, every honer needs one. So fast, so easy, such good results. I've never heard anyone who owns one say it's not worth the money. Most (put me in this camp) say it's the best finisher they've ever used. I used to use this as a finisher:
A Nakayama Karasu. Huge, hard and smooth as glass. Takeshi at A-Frames Tokyo found it in the back of a dusty shelf in a little hardware store in Kyoto. The ancient proprietor of the store had taken the store over from his father just after WWII, and he was not aware of its presence in the store, so there's a good chance it had been placed on the shelf 65 years or so prior by his father, possibly pre-war. Cool history behind this rock!
Put one seriously sweet edge on a blade, took about 15~20 minutes. When I got the SG20K, from the first razor it produced the same level of sharpness in about 2 minutes. In fairness, the edges are not quite as smooth/sweet as the Nakayama but I soon discovered I could take about 10 strokes on 0.25 CrOx sprayed linen after the SG20K and sweeten the edge up to just as nice as the Nakayama. The Nakayama went up for sale a couple of days after.
The SG20K is the only finisher I'll ever need.
PS-Lindy: Here's your tamahagane Iwasaki in happier days...
