  3. Really liked the feel of this razor. The muted tip still quite sharp came in very handy trimming around the 'stache. Nice job on the edges on both these JWests! Gokumyo 20k finish?

  4. SG20K. Absolutely. I know you've been advised that you don't need one. In my own opinion, every honer needs one. So fast, so easy, such good results. I've never heard anyone who owns one say it's not worth the money. Most (put me in this camp) say it's the best finisher they've ever used. I used to use this as a finisher:

A Nakayama Karasu. Huge, hard and smooth as glass. Takeshi at A-Frames Tokyo found it in the back of a dusty shelf in a little hardware store in Kyoto. The ancient proprietor of the store had taken the store over from his father just after WWII, and he was not aware of its presence in the store, so there's a good chance it had been placed on the shelf 65 years or so prior by his father, possibly pre-war. Cool history behind this rock!

Put one seriously sweet edge on a blade, took about 15~20 minutes. When I got the SG20K, from the first razor it produced the same level of sharpness in about 2 minutes. In fairness, the edges are not quite as smooth/sweet as the Nakayama but I soon discovered I could take about 10 strokes on 0.25 CrOx sprayed linen after the SG20K and sweeten the edge up to just as nice as the Nakayama. The Nakayama went up for sale a couple of days after.

The SG20K is the only finisher I'll ever need.

Another superb shave today. This time I went with the Wacker which is another solid blade. I've noticed that these razors that were generously loaned to me, don't feel scary sharp, but wipe away whiskers with ease. Simply Smooth, Comfortable, and effortless.

I can see why most straight shavers prefer these larger blades. They do all of the work and feel great in the hand.

BWW soap was queen anne's revenge. Nice suds, fresh and modern cologne type of scent. Not a strong scent, but still nice.

You gents have a great day and safe weekend.
  6. I agree

I have been using a SG 20 k for almost A year now. My Nakayama Asagi hasn't been used since. Setting a bevel and finishing a new arrival takes less than a hour now, this also includes some quick cleaning up.

  8. Since I enjoyed the Feon 172 so much I did some research and could not find a 'reasonable priced SG20k shipped to Korea. I found a Japanese seller with a good price and reasonable shipping but they are sold out.
  9. Back to my roots, my first SR, a Whipped Dog sight unseen special. Also the first good shave from my J Nat.

I'm sorry, I don't understand about the images. They load ok on Safari, I also tried in Chrome and they load fine as well.

  16. today I used my;
Wade& Butcher 5/8 full hollow with a squared end. it's marked Sheffield only.
I prepped the blade on my @Drygulch custom strop. 10 laps linen, 20 laps leather.
the shave went well. I cut the underside of my chin. a small line on the left point of my chin. hardly no blood but definitely a small line.
I touched up with yesterday's slim. very smooth results, comfy but for that one spot.

jr you've got a good eye, you were very close
  19. That brush and bowl are epic. I'd already been lusting after the PantaRei brushes I've seen in your posts, and now I see he makes bowls as well. That just set the hook.
