Frey's Day: Day 3 of my second blade tryouts

    Prep:
Hot Shower, Nivea Moisturizing Face Wash
    Brush: @Jayaruh Cholula Travel Badger
    Lather: Speick Stick
Razor: Birth Year/Quarter Gillette Black Handle SS
    Blade: Schick-Premium (3)
    Passes: WTG, XTG, XTG (7, 8, 9)
Post: Cold water rinse, Bloc Osma alum, Dickinson's Witch Hazel, Speick aftershave splash
Cologne: Le 3e Homme de Caron by Caron

Rubbed the Speick across my face and got at it this AM. I had test-lathered the @Jayaruh Cholula before, so knew it produced a good amount of lather but was shedding a lot; hopefully the shedding is nearly done. My Simpsons brush probably has me spoiled on the amount of backbone it provides, but this certainly felt nice against my face. Lather was good, and the Black Handle SS is my mildest razor, so I wasn't too concerned for Day 3 with the Schick-Premium. Then, lo and behold, I got two weepers, one on the second and one on the third pass. These were the first two weepers I'd ever received from the SS. The Schick-Premium felt smooth enough on Day 3, but it was clearly done, given that evidence. Adding to it was the fact that I'm less clean-shaven in 3 passes with the Schick-Premium in the Black Handle SS - barely above SAS into DFS territory - than I usually am after 2 passes with the Bic. Perhaps the second blade will be better, but tomorrow (or Sunday) is the GSB's turn in the rotation.

It's been a while, as I am waiting to get my internet going with my new laptop. Miss you guys. But I can squeeze in a:

    Friday Shave:
Prep-Dove 4 Men Bodywash (in shower)
    Shave-Rise Super Foam
A.S. Rise Cooling Balm (I call this the Contradiction of Balms, as it says NEW, and TRUSTED SINCE THE 50's).

Retiring my Weber for a while to focus a bit more on my vintage gear.
Up this time is my British Tech. It's an excellent shaver, albeit a different and more precise angle is needed over a modern one.
I haven't shaved for days due to several reasons, so I did an extra WTG while dialing the angle.
I don't really miss my "animal" brushes.
I get the backbone from my boars and the silky softness from my Silvertip in this excellent WD Synthetic.
It has a funny springy feel when forced to splay but I'm quickly learning not to be bothered from it.

Got a borderline BBS and a wonderful experience.

Prep: Hot Shower/ Nivea Original Moisturizing Face Wash
    Pre-Shave: PAA Ice Pre-Shave Soap
    Soap: Razorock XXX
Brush: Manhandled Wood Shop 28mm Finest Badger
    Razor/ Blade: Merkur 1906/ Astra SP (3)
    Astringent: Alum
Post-Shave: Eco Pure Man Aftershave Balm
    Aftershave: Fine L'orange Noir
Fantastic shave last night! The finest badger whipped up a fantastic lather with the soft XXX soap. First time using the soap and it was truly incredible. Very slick with the tallow, easy to load, easy to lather, thick and creamy, and scent was incredible. A bright citrus/ oakmoss scent that really opened up nicely. Post shave was pretty good, nothing special but still good. My focus for this month is to use my Merkur 1906 and really get the feel for it. I absolutely love it--I'd rate it about a 3 for aggressiveness. It is perfect for daily shaving. Has a nice weight to it, but still balanced. I'm actually starting to enjoy it more than my Muhle R89/ Maggard MR5! Overall great shave, very happy and Fine L'orange Noir pairs well with the XXX and smells great. Hope you all have a great weekend! I will be driving from Southern CA up to Northern CA tomorrow and am stopping at the West Coast Shaving store on the way :happy093:

To be honest, I miss shooting outdoors. I need to pack some gear in my bag and scout some new spots. Straights in the wild....we will see how it turns out.

Imagine that, after getting this new Omega 49 brush it's already pretty well broken-in. If it could get a fussy, finicky soap like Williams to lather well it could get an easy soap like Frostbite to produce lather porn. That soap smells so great, freezes like there's no tomorrow, and soothes so well. The matching aftershave has that same wonderful scent and gives even more icy-cold menthol goodness. This Derby blade seems to be a bit duller but it's performing very well - no complaints at all! ;) :D

I wasn't going to post today since the shave was nothing special, just a good shave. I have been wanting to use my Safetee Shaving Cabinet as a prop and keep forgetting. So I just set the gear up now and snapped a photo.
