What an awesome shave which felt so ice-cold and delightful. Brian's Frostbite soap sure lives up to its name with its powerful menthol punch and my Omega 49 worked up tons of terrific lather in less than 15 seconds. The matching aftershave is not only frigid, it's so moisturizing and soothing! :happy088: :happy088:

Hello everyone - here's shave #2 with the Mühle R41

    0901.jpg

Because yesterday's shave had been a little tuggy ATG I changed the blade today - fresh Sputnik for the R41.

The wet Semogue produced a lot of nice lather with the MWF and I decided to do 3 passes today, for a fair comparison with the Merkur Futur. The new blade indeed improved the shave, the first two passes WTG and XTG were very smooth - I concentrated on keeping the blade angle pretty shallow and the touch light. Third pass ATG was still a little more rough than usual - I guess I might need one or two more shaves to get used to the razor. Still no nicks or tears/scratches exept one tiny blood spot where I cut open a tiny pimple on my neck.

These 3 passes resulted in a BBS skin, the AS burned a little bit more than usual, but just for a few seconds. The Blue Spice smells pretty nice (a little sweet though) but seems to provide zero skincare, so I finished with some Aloe Vera Gel.

My verdict: Closeness A+, irritation A-

I think the result of today's shave is comparable to my first shave with the Merkur Futur in terms of closeness. But the Futur is more fun - can't wait to use it again tomorrow ;)

    No SOTD for me today.

I start a new job, out of town, next week so I need to get stuff packed. And most importantly, figure out what gear I want to use!

    Ahhh, choices..

I have 15 different soaps and creams, including MDC in both Lavender and unscented. But, I seem to grab the MDC about 5 times as much as anything else. For me, MDC is without a doubt the best I have used.

    Slim Adjustable set to 9
    Rapira Platinum Lux Blade
    MDC Face Lathered
    3 passes and extremely smooth

    TOBS Herbal Pre-Shave Gel
    Schick (Eversharp) H1 2+ passes
    Schick (1)
    EverReady boar
    Derby soap in a mug
    Thayers Rose
    Crusellas Rose edc

This is yesterday's shave but I had a busy day and no time to post it.
I was inspired (by @twhite 's injector razor he's working on) to try my H1 which I've had for a little while but haven't used. It felt a bit odd initially but I got the hang of it and had a surprisingly good shave for my first time. I had a little trouble in some spots but overall it seems to be a dandy little tool.

@GDCarrington customized Rubberset/ custom two band finest
    BOMBED soap commander passion
    Wade& Butcher 5/8 full hollow
    Crusella& co kolonia
    Soap Commander passion balm
today's shave was nice. grandad's brush did perfect making lather of the chilled passion. three passes with the old w&b(Sheffield only) left me smooth, but with a small cut under the point of my chin( almost no blood, but definitely a little line). I made a touch pass with the slim. finished with a wash of kolonia and a rubdown of passion balm.
hope y'all did as well, or better.

    Belgian Williams Shave

I am still testing the new shaving products I recently bought in Belgium and it is interesting to see how a product changes from country to country. This is the case of Aqua Velva after shave, for example. I am particularly fond of this after shave, in particular because it was my father's favorite and I like it both for its fragrance and performance. The Aqua Velva sold in Belgium seems to be quite different from the one sold in Italy. Fragrance is notably different, although having the same base nuances, the INCI is quite different, not just a matter of ingredient types but also of sequence. In terms of performance, they are both good. I also used this Williams shaving cream, bought in Belgium, and it did not impress me that much. A good soap but not the best, besides the fact it tends to easily dry on the skin. The icing on the cake was of course my awesome Mastro Livi CarboInox razor: a striking combination of beauty and excellence of smoothness, giving a superb and close shave.
    • Pre-Shave: RazorGuy Pre-Shave Oil
    • Soap: Williams Shaving Cream
    • Brush: Omega Bristle Brush 80266
    • Strop: Mastro Livi Travel Loom Strop and Hand Palm
    • Razor: Mastro Livi CarboInox, 6/8 Full Hollow, Barber's Notch
    • Post-Shave: Alum Block
    • Post-Shave: Argan Oil
    • After Shave: Aqua Velva
