I'm doing it! I'm growing a moustache!

youngunn Where's my TSD aftershave balm???

I'm going to keep on keeping on and not shave it. I think I've hardened myself to the "70s pornstar" and "police man" stache jabs... I just smile and say, yes its coming along nicely I think. Lol

I'll keep a weekly journal of my progress here.

I'm going for a 3 musketeers style stache, not a full handlebar.

I've selected my moustache wax, Baldy Beardy JDOZ from Etsy.

    Wish me luck!

Nice looking mustache. I have worn a mustache since I was 16 or 17 and have never shaved it off once. That makes it 40 years. I've trimmed it a million times and have worn it long and have worn it short. Currently I am in a "short" phase. Anyway, your mustache looks great.

Oh thanks! After two weeks it is starting to finally get past the awkward stage. In the next two weeks I think it'll look pretty good.

Looking good Tim. Have you had one before for any amount of time? I had one on my face from the time I could grow one until 2009 at the age of 47. It had only been shaved off twice in that period of time....passed out on my 21st birthday and a a year later when I had surgery to repair a broken jaw. I shaved it off once and for all on a dare from my wife who thought it made me look old (it was going grey).
I say go for it while its only one color my friend.....

I've had mine for about 14 months now. It looked dicey for the first month or two, but eventually took shape. Now maintenance is fairly routine with daily wax.

I started to grow one last year for the first time ever last year and didn't get past 2 weeks... The wife made fun of me. I made her promise to not say anything about it until after a couple months. This is the first time I've been committed to it.

See my tutorial on how to grow and maintain your 'stache. You may not want to go full handlebar, but it will let you know what to expect if you do.

Excellent start! I've worn a mustache pretty much constantly since June 1983. My avatar is close to what I have right now. I'm actually working on my first handlebar in all of those years.

    It looks good.
It would take me 4 weeks to grow what you can grow in 2.

I wouldn't worry about comments from others either. I've grown and shaved off more styles of facial hair more times than I can remember. Some of it looked alright and some of it probably looked stupid but I had fun doing it. Besides, most people are interested in their own looks, not yours.

The other thing I always try to remember is all the people I know who are painstakingly meticulous about their particular hairstyle and/or facial hair that they've kept exactly the same way their whole life because they think it looks good when in fact they need a good makeover. I've had short hair, long hair, no hair, and now I'm starting to have gray hair. I've parted it and slicked it down, I've had it stand up straight, I've kept it in a pony tail, I shaved my head bald several summers in a row, and I've had a curly perm.

Grow your moustache, do the Fu Manchu, do a handlebar, shave it off, grow it back, shave it off, grow a beard, shave it off, grow your hair long, cut it short, shave your head, buy more razors...
...drive a car, ride a moped, drive a horse and buggy, operate a bulldozer, fly a helicopter,... you only go around once.

Like @Rusty blade I've had a moustache since I was in my late teens, I'm 60 now, without ever shaving it off, just letting it grow longer within limits and cutting it back as the mood suits me. Unfortunately its not a really nice thick one like @Troy M so I've never had any success with a handle bar.:( Also my career choice didn't allow for anything too extreme hair wise. Mine is also of the porn star, cop, mexican bandit, Magnum PI look stopping at the lower corner of my bottom lip. Just let it grow and see what happens. :happy088:

I've had a number of mustaches over the years; got tired of it being a crumb catcher. Besides SWMBO says I look younger without it. At my age, I need every advantage:)

I've shaved mine off three times in the past 40 years...I look like a punk kid (or John Denver) when I do. It's got more gray (or white, rather) than my head. It changes style from a neat & proper David Niven to a bushy Sam Elliot to a Zappa, depending on how much energy I have.

    Man I love it!

I'm a big mustache fan. I grown one every Movember and am sad when I shave it. One day I'll just keep it for good. Except for u pull it off better than I do!

    Looking great, Tim!

SWMBO isn't into 'staches, and my 'stache doesn't get past the awkward stage anyhow, so I've got a clean upper lip. ;)
