I almost forgot to post here on the 400 Club thread. My Virginia Sheng Silvertip came in, and I got it set in the 400 handle. Now, I am a member of the Hybrid 400 Club. I am looking forward to using it for the first time when December rolls around. What a sweet brush. Thanks again @clint64 for this beautiful handle.
@Jayaruh Jim you are certainly welcome. I am so happy that you were able to turn my misfortune into something so beautiful.
Sorry to keep you guys waiting. It was nice to finally get the #30RS into service. I will be using it for the next four shaves and then alternate it with my new #28 finest badger. I normally load my brushes 30 seconds with soaps, but the MWF requires about 40 seconds. It was nice using MWF again.
hi guys i had a question about about this brush , i recently got my 400 from my grandfather and it was love at first sight .... aside from restoring it , i became a hoarder ( now i have my grandfathers and 4 more that I've bought in the last couple of weeks) anyway my question was this does anyone know what was the original know used on these brushes .... synthetic , badger, bore ... alien mullet hair? thanks for your help
thank you ..... i did want to restore my grandfathers to its original state and with the others have some fun with different knots be it horse hair badger .... maybe a mix of stiffer in the middle and softer on the outside ....
Some have like the original boar knot... I didn't like the stiff bristles and smell so I upgraded to a Silvertip in mine. Whatever you do, its a great brush. Enjoy!
I've been looking to snag a Rubberset 400 off of ebay. The ones that look to be in good shape sell for outrageous prices. I understand the brushes that are in Great shape selling high but what is up with a brush that looks like crap needing a new knot selling so high?
The really interesting thing is that they really aren't rare. Thousands were made and at any given moment there are always a handful for sale on eBay as there has been for years. They are still found in the wild for a song. They just have a unique shape and clean up really well. That said, I'm still hooked. I just really can't say why.
not to mention that they function so very nicely. they are able to be cleaned up and feel so nice in the hand. bottom line is that functionality keeps them in demand.
ok so this is the 400 that my grandfather gave me and my first restore .... as you guys can see theres a lot of work to be done
