I get great shaves with the Feather and often use them for five days. Keep in mind I usually do two passes each day.

Today's razor is a Hart Steel finished with Shapton 12k, CrOx then Fe3O2. The shave felt smooth and the blade sharp. I did 4 passes and just one small weeper on the 4th pass right on the jaw line. The shave felt smooth so I was surprised when the alum stung a little bit, just missed BBS but oh so close.

Thanks billy that's exactly what I'm doing as I clamp down the blade bounces ever so slightly. Meaning the blade isn't straight. Sometimes I get it right but not every time. It's definitely operator error as the razor Is perfect all straight and tight

What do you use for polishing? Everything definitely came out looking great.

    Pinaud Clubman Original

Third shave with my Phoenix DOC loaded with a Feather.
2 full passes: Pass 1 XTG. Pass 2: ATG. Both with very good reduction. A cool water rinse and a light amount of touch up in a few of my trouble spots brought home the baby. The Pinaud Clubman stung a great deal today, but settled down pretty quickly. The MWF left me with enough lather for at least another two passes.

A nice comfortable BBS from the Phoenix DOC, the Feather and the MWF. Today took a lot less touch up than yesterday. Yesterday, I complained that the blade’s sharpness may have fallen off from the first shave because of how much touch up I needed to do. Thinking about yesterday's shave, I now realize that I broke my usual pattern during my second pass. I had done it before because it appeared the new pattern was more ATG in the center of my neck than my usual pattern. But it seems that yesterday, like before, it resulted in a lot more touch up to get the stubble that I normally take care of during my second pass. Since I suspect that it was my behavior that caused the blade to appear less sharp, I'm going to give the Feather another 3 day trial. I’ll do that later this month. Tomorrow, I’ll break out the Raperia Super Stainless and see how that does in the Phoenix Double OC. I hope it does as well as the Feather and the Gillette Silver Blue.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Lord's Day!

This razor was in pretty good shape before I started. I used Barkeeper's Friend, and when that wasn't enough, I used a cloth wheel with greaseless red compound. If the spots hadn't come out with the buffer, I would have started to sand the blade with fine grit wet dry sandpaper before polishing it again.

It does look great. Hearing about the care and maintenance involved with straights makes me really want one. It seems you have to be much more involved with how it performs and I like the idea of that.

Razor – AlumiGoose with Triad Ti
Blade – Feather Super Pro (3)
Brush – Rubberset 400 with WSP HMW
    Lather – TSD Yin Yang
Post - Witch Hazel followed by Fine L’Orange

My third shave with the AlumiGoose and Feather Super Pro. The blade has started to smooth out some which helped with today's shave. The results of the shave were the usual near BBS but I guess I'm just having an off day. I never really got the lather correct which made the shave rougher. Oh well, there is always tomorrow. I hope everyone has a great Sunday.

WD High Mountain Badger 30 mm
    TSD Lavender Rose Wheat SC
    Ralf Aust 5/8
    Stirling Unscented PSB -- Mentholated

It was a decent shave this morning, but the razor seemed a bit tuggy. I bought a WD strop kit a while ago that came with a pasted balsa strop. I am thinking it may be time to use it. I have never used a pasted strop of any kind. Any advice?

I take it you sand by hand? If so, how does sanding around the edge work?
