  6. SOTD January 14, 2016

    Prep: Warm shower
    Blade: Rapira Stainless (4)
    Razor: Wet Shave Club 3-piece
Brush: Satin Tip 'The Purest' synthetic
    Lather: Proraso White
Post: Witch hazel splash, Nivea sensitive balm
    WTG, touch-up (jaw and neck)

Efficient CCS this morning. A little bit of tugging on my neck during the first pass, but not on the touch-up, so I guess the lather had dried on me a little bit. I have enjoyed this combination again this week and will mix it up tomorrow with a new soap and brush and blade.

    Have a great Thursday!

  8. Today was a shave tribute to my Dear Ole Dad
    Hot whisker rinse
    Arko-face lathered
    Omega 10029 Baby-Pro
    1955 Eversharp-Schick Hydromatic
    Schick (Chinese) d2
Aqua Velva Ice Blue/Clubman Special Reserve

The first time I ever noticed my Pop shaving I was mesmerized. I'll never forget it, because as I walked by I looked in his shave cave, dug the action...But onething I could never forget was his Schick Hydro-magic...all gold, shiny and his injecting a new blade and using the hydro-magic lever to rinse it out. Whats not to like? That was a 4 year old dream razor...

Today I wielded another early Hydro-magic exactly like that one....and the shave was fantastic...My Pop knew what he was doing when he picked out that razor back in the day....and it's still as good as it gets....The rest of todays kit, could very well have been his picks on any given day at that time in the mid 50's....

  13. Hello all, here's a look at tonight's SOTD;

    1930's New Deluxe Traveller.
    1942 Gillette Blue Blade.
    Gillette/Rubberset travel brush.
    1930's Colgate Shave Stick.
    Avon Mesmerize Post Shave Conditioner.
    Avon Mesmerize cologne.

Well, I wanted to have a nostalgic shave using all the elements available to a wet shaver in the 1930's. The New Deluxe Traveller set had everything I needed. It did take some prep work though. I cleaned the brush with hot tap water/Dawn dish soap, but it still smelled like a combination of critter/construction adhesive, so I washed it two more times with shampoo. No matter what I did, I could not get rid of the stench. But I carried on with the shave anyway. The old Colgate Shave Stick soap did lather and I proceeded to lather up and shave. I did a two pass shave resulting in DFS. I also got three bleeders in the process. But still, it was a good shave. I was relaxed and content with the results of the shave, and that's what it's all about. Will I do it again? Probably. Here's the photo-

God Bless, and have a great night.
