This just popped up on the bay. Is the $35 BIN price worth it ? Just yesterday I was looking to see if there were any 1982's (My birth year) out there but couldn't find any, and then today this popped up. Are 82's rare or do they come up very often ? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Gillette-Su...395630?hash=item1eaa03d0ae:g:zSkAAOSwqYBWmEmx P.S. Hope nobody here snipes it from me before I decide to snatch it up or not LOL
No idea about how rare, but I'd get it now, since it's what you're looking for. Hard telling when another may come along. And $35 doesn't seem unreasonable.
I don't see alot of these better stay on top of it and realize there's still 4 days left so you may have to up ante to close the deal. Hey it's your birthday driver so it's worth (IMO) maybe going a little overboard. If you don't pull the trigger you may be second guessing your self forever.
If this is your birth year razor and you really want it I say buy it now! Nobody ever regretted paying a bit more for perfection on something that they will have forever.
TRUTH! I just finished shaving with my Gillette Black Beauty! It's a Black-Bottomed-One; with a # 3 on the bottom? I 'THINK' it's from, about, 1970? (Not Too Sure?) But; I Love it! And; I love the L-O-N-G Handle. It's handle is 'much longer' than My Gillette Slim Adjustable. Very nice for 'precision-shavings!' I paid about $25.00, for it....worth every penny! Best of Wishes/Luck to you! "Happy-Days, filled with Happy Shaves, to you!
The date code should be on the inside of the baseplate under the doors. I think the black nylon blade adjusters started in 1979, maybe? 82's are fairly rare. The later into the 80's you go, the rarer they become. 1986 U.S. made super speeds are about the rarest of them all. Gillette continued to make a knack style razor called the G-1000 in England until 1992 I think.
Hey Ryan, maybe you can help me out. Mine has no codes anywhere. Open the doors and inside on the base it has PAT NOS ON PKG.
