It looks like I have the older model. Not sure what that means shave wise but I going to use it this week. Previous shaves were good but it seemed that I had better shaves with other models..... Hmm..

I have the older model as well..I find it just perfect..I have no idea why they changed that feature but mine is an excellent shaver..I took to the PAL Adjustable straight away without any issues although I do understand its a subtle razor..The Personna Executive & the Floating head are quite subtle Injectors as well..It seems to be a Hallmark of most of the American Safety Razor Injectors..:p

Same here. A 7 pk of Chick blades changed it all for me.

I like all the razors some more than others. Injector razors have been my favorites lately . I love variety and having choices. It's a real privilege to be able to choose from so many different razors!

Absolutely! It is amazing how different each razor shaves, especially when changing type of razor. But it sure is fun having the different experiences;)

Those Chicks are great! My first injector was a Schick G with a Chick. I got exceptionally easy, comfortable shaves with this combo. What was really shocking though was how long the blade went for. I know I was at least up around 30 shaves. I ended up changing the blade to a Personna Mini Hair Shaper out of boredom:shocked003: One of the many reasons why the injector blade is a spoiler!:smiley respect:

Interestingly, of the three I have, there are differences between them all.

The first one I have has the longer bevel and it goes all the way down to the blade. It says "pending" and made in the USA on the tension bar. This one has the smallest blade gap and is the most difficult to shave with. I'm still not sure if it is defective, damaged, or designed this way.

The second the shorter bevel that does not taper all the way to the blade, but is cut abruptly leaving a bit of a thick edge. This one has a more pronounced blade gap and gives a much better shave. I have also noticed that this Pal has a slightly different font on the Pal logo underneath the blade as well as on the adjustment markings. It has the same wording on the tension bar as the first model.

The third is what I believe is the latest model of the bunch I have. It came in a black bottomed case (not the gold mirrored one). This razor, again, has the bevel taper all the way down to a very thin edge. This bevel looks almost identical to the first model I purchased. Also, this model has a patent number listed above where it reads "Stainless steel" above the Pal logo. The Pal logo, again, has a slightly different font. On the tension bar on this model are the words "Tension Bar".

I believe the reason why the last two shave so much easier is because of the blade gap due to the curvature of the sliding guard beneath the blade. The later two models have a slight curve while the first one (mine at least) is very straight and leaves very little space between the blade and the safety bar.

Yeah..The one that I have has the same markings as the first one you are describing...But is does have the Curvature you are describing on the last two...That first one you have may well be defective or damaged..:)

That very well may be Billy. Here are some pics of my three Pal Adjustables. From left to right is first to third version. Apologies for not being able to make them bigger, but hopefully you can see some of the differences I listed.

I don't really see a difference in the Curvature in any of them..Its hard to see in pics but one could be out of alignment I guess from being banged about or something...Everything there would suggest that there were 2 models...As far a I know there were only 2 models..The Markings are only cosmetic differences..If ones hard to shave with it would suggest that something's not right..:p

As far as head design goes, I assume there are only two versions. However, there are definitely cosmetic differences between all three of the Pals I have. As far as the differences in the shave goes, the first version I have could, as you say, simply be due to a defect or damaged razor:happy088:

Yeah..That just about sums it up..There would have been different manufacturing markings due to patents & logo & so on but as far as the head/face difference's there was only 2 distinct models because of that Indent change it would appear..:p

Now I just need to find an inexpensive way to have the blade honed. Either that or invest in some stones or lapping film. They are very cool and you can get lost in the thread about them that I posted. :happy088:

I have one too. I got it last month with full intentions of using it this month. Needless to say I got side tracked and it is just sitting waiting to get a nice edge put on it. They should be a thrilling shave.

The hone in the Rolls does a decent job of maintaining a good edge. Problem is, the ravages of time will cause the edge to deteriorate, and the little hone is just not up to the job of restoring a damaged edge.

Fortunately it can be done with lapping film without breaking the bank. A sheet each of 12, 9, 3, 1 and .1 micron film at $3 or less per sheet and a marble tile from Home Depot ($6), an inexpensive jeweler's loupe, and you're good to go.

It's worth the effort, as the Sheffield steel used in the Rolls blades is as good as that used in the best straights and can be honed to a wicked edge.

Then you're in for an incredible shave.

Contender for best looking razor ever! August Scheuber sure put a number on this one.....August was a Genius and designed some of the greatest razors of all time, including the GEM Damaskeene 1912....But none had more style or shaved better than this Masterpiece...the GEM Junior Bar....

The handle pairs absolutely fantastic with the head. What a great combination.

Where could i get a handle like this for my Ever Ready 1912?
