Did a two pass shave with the straight today, and some touch up with my Red Tip. I did a pretty good cut under my lip on Saturday, and didn’t want to risk ripping it back open. I remember when I thought a Red Tip was aggressive. It’s very mild compared to a straight. I touched up my chin, jawline, and neck, and got a BBS. Razor was smooth and sharp, but not going to rate it this time, since I had crutches.

This was my first time using Clubman Special Reserve. Got a hint of the Veg from it, (not in a good way.) After 5 hours, I keep getting whiffs of litter box. I will probably try it again, just to make sure it wasn’t a fluke, but this bottle may be up for adoption soon.

I should've guessed that as well. I overthought this (once again) - put the accountant part of your background into the equation. Never figured a pitcher had the capacity for that!

I'd have enjoyed catching you though. With my overthinking, youd've been shaking off my signs half the time and Id've worn out a path to the mound to chew you out!

Soon it will be time for a shave!

30-day focus with my Schick Type C1 - The Simplified Schick Automatic Razor.

3-day growth, so a 3-pass shave.

I had my first shave with this blade on Friday after a 1-day growth. I wanted to test it with a longer beard. It didn’t disappoint.

Both of the first two passes (WTG, XTG) gave good whisker reduction. The last pass (ATG) left my face like butta!

I am very satisfied with this blade, as I have been with the three that preceded it. It is a very sharp blade and has a reputation to be very long-lasting. So unless one of my last two blades in the trials does remarkably better, I can see staying with this razor/blade combo as my travel set-up. With some users reporting dozens of shaves on a single P74 blade, I’ll just keep the one blade in the razor and be able to go on a two-week trip or use it for 3 - 4 months of business (car) travel without packing extra blades. I keep the kit in the car for late nights on road where I decide to overnight.

So I’m down to two blades left in the trials. Tomorrow and the rest of this week it will be the ‘Fergie Feather” - the cut down version of a Feather AC Pro as devised by @Billyfergie (and find out for sure if this is just his way of hazing the new injector users.) I’ll wrap up the last week of the month with a Schick Twin.

1961 Bulova "His Excellency"

I plan to stay with my current setup, featuring a Super Speed from my Bride's birth quarter for two more weeks. This will conclude a two-month run, and I've been able to optimize a two-pass shave by focusing on the basics. A combination of tweaks in my technique now allow me to approach a near-BBS shave on most days. Because of its simplicity and overall effectiveness, the SS is my official 'go to' travel razor. I have also named it the Official Vintage Razor of the 2016 Summer Olympic Games. It's a gold medal winner when paired with a Feather blade.

I included my 1961 Bulova "His Excellency" wristwatch in the SOTD photo. This model is the "E," and it sold new for $79.50. It has a manual wind 10BP Bulova movement, which gives it a slim profile. You can find vintage Bulova watches at reasonable prices in antique stores, and they are terrific dress watches. The cases have date codes, and this one is from my birth year. And this example is even more special to me, as it belonged to my Bride's dear Uncle Bill. My Bride had the case, dial, and movement restored for me as a Christmas present a few years ago. An alligator strap and an authentic Bulova clasp replaces the original metal expansion bracelet, which I kept.

The man that shaved with a Super Speed and Arko also wore a Bulova wristwatch and used Pinaud Clubman aftershave. That'll be me tomorrow.

That's exactly what I thought when I first got it Roby. The head folds up so an end cap can be used to close it up for travel. When it was originally made, old Colonel Schick devised the barrel to be like a rifle magazine - to be used to load the next blade. Way cool!

Yes it is, I've seen nothing else like it, though there were two models that preceded it.
Unfortunately, blades were a bit thicker back then so today's thinner blades have been reported to jam the loading mechanism. So I just take care and load them by hand. Just need to be careful.
