I have found that the old thicker blades jam as well. i think age and wear are the main reasons for them to jam. easier to hand load. I kept some backup blades in the C type I had before I traded it. I don't dare keep blades in the B type i still have. if it jams there really isn't a way to take it apart and unjam it like there is on the C type.

I've successfully loaded two different Type C razors and have not had a jam, but I was not willing to try it on the Type A I have.

I had a jam on both B and C type. c type was easy to unjam. I just broke it down until the jammed blade fell out but the B was a pain took hours or pulling and puushing before it decided to open up. broke my blade magizine while i was at it. Im just going to handload them from here on out.

    No pic Tuesday

Today's razor was my Hart Steel 7/8 French point. I refreshed it using a Shapton 12k then my new Shapton glass stone 16k followed with a pasted strop with Dove red/black. I then stropped on linen then leather.

The edge felt very nice today, smooth and sharp. I thought I nailed the shave but I felt that was last shave only to find out I had not. There was one small weeper and when I applied the alum just a twinge. Faceturbating revealed a BBS. I did nail this shave.

Day 18 - 90 Day Intro to SR

    image.jpeg
The eighteenth day of my Intro...found my self with some extra time for this shave, so I decided to make it a "test" shave. Two passes, WTG then ATG/XTG hybrid, a bit of touch up and live with the results was the rules I chose for the test. No safety net today.... Back to the Route 66 after a Shave Den Sunday, and the lumberjack was great per usual. I am adopting the "baseball" straight shave pattern of @Norcalnewb , that is basically shaving a third of the face in a defined pattern. I am happy to say that I was able to get to DFS with vast areas of BBS, but the Alum really lit me up! 30 laps on leather and I will do it again tomorrow! Slow Monday night with the dogs...other than that...all is quiet in Colorado!

    Focus day 16

    Prep: Warm shower
    Blade: Rapira Stainless
    Razor: Wet Shave Club 3-piece
Brush: Satin Tip 'The Purest' synthetic
    Lather: Proraso White shaving soap
Post: Witch hazel splash, Nivea sensitive balm
WTG, XTG (neck and jaw only)

Efficient CCS today. This combination continues to work well. I used a little more water when loading the Proraso and created some good lather. I tried to catch all that spilled over the side of the bowl and then added that to my face before face lathering. It didn't seem to dry on my so much today. I have really enjoyed Proraso White throughout this focus.

The Rapira blades continue to do well. I really liked Gillette Silver Blue that I used the past few shaves and I look forward to trying them again soon. I have several more razors to try out but am committed to using this razor for 30 days to work on technique. My technique has certainly improved!

The one pass with touch-up system continues to work well too. I'm avoiding irritation by limiting the number of passes. The light beard growth of 24 hours also lends itself to just a one pass with touch-up scenario. So that has been working well.

I hope everyone has a great Tuesday!

Scents are so subjective that you almost have to try it to find out. It's cheap enough to be worth checking out.

Are you saying pitchers aren't smart enough to be accountants or accountants aren't smart enough to be pitchers? Anyway, I'd have miss all your signs because I'm nearsighted.

So you were one of those pitching prima donnas that yelled at the guy wearing the tools of ignorance:

"Just put up the target and catch the ball ya big lug!"

That and if you weren't there I'd have to go get the ball?

Casey, why was your first draft pick in the expansion draft a catcher?

One of my B types came to me jammed. I got it for a low enough price that I might try and force it open. I'll let you guys know how it goes.

Mine was jammed, too, but it was actually just gunk that held it. I soaked it for a while and worked it open.

Sounds like progress for you is very similar to mine. I can definitely see the appeal of straights, as I do seem to be able to get much closer shaves, or at least shaves that last longer, with them. I am going to try for a shave similar to yesterday, this morning, and get a nice, comfortable single pass. If I could get that down, it would be perfect, as it works well for work, it allows a nice shave every morning, and it feels fantastic.

Hello TSD - I'm back to the Merkur Futur focus - with new blade, brush and soap. ;)

    1901.jpg

    - I Coloniali Mango
    - Semogue 1460
    - Merkur Futur on 4
    - Feather blade
    - La Toja After Shave Lotion

Another pleasant, effortless shave with the Futur. Did I mention this razor is awesome?

Tried Feather blades for the first time today, so I thought I'd better turn it down a notch and just start on 4. Two passes, WTG and A/XTG, no touchups. Compared to the Slim I have to say the Futur is a much better razor (which doesn't mean the Slim is a bad one, it's just not as good). Effortless, smooth, efficient and by no means aggressive. I don't have any other razor that gives me close shaves like that in such a casual manner. Hard to describe how shaving with the Futur feels like ... as if it "sucks" itself to the skin with every stroke and just wipes the whiskers off the face ;) Paired with the Feather blade it might even be a tiny bit better than with the Sputnik.

The wonderful scent of the I Coloniali soap intermixed nicely with the smell of La Toja - great finish for this shave. Borderline BBS, just a few tiny spots on my neck still a little rough.

I think I'll use the Futur until sunday and then swith to the Merkur Progress for the last week of January. I haven't used the Progress for quite a while and I'm very curious how these two compare.
