Sam Gawith Chocolate Flake in a Neerup bent. The rustication on the Neerup wraps underneath and goes up the other side, making it very comfortable to hold. I packed the SG Chocolate Flake with an air pocket on the bottom to improve air flow. The SG CF has a pretty good kick; I packed about 2/3 of a flake, should have gone with 1/2!

Love the air pocket method. I do the fold stuff air pocket load when smoking a Kaywoodie outdoors. It makes it draw like a beast, and also keeps fly ash to a minimum.

There is a really Southern flavour to the pipe thread with a Samurai from 'Bama and Bama T... I guess should share my secret, I was born in Birmingham but moved north when I was 2 and 14 years ago west to Korea. Given my roots I guess pipe smoking was inevitable.

Pre WWII Dunhill (estate sale steal). I don't have year because most of stamping has been worn off, but have enough to figure out pre WWII. Penzance, my first time trying. Extremely smooth, but for me I don't get a lot of flavor, like say Boswell Northwoods or the now discontinued Leo (which I have a good stash). Still a very good smoke and will smoke through the tin in various pipes to see if the hype is worth it. After one bowl in 1 pipe, not fair to make that assessment yet. FYI I paid retail for the baccy, got lucky and picked up a few tins from various suppliers within the last month. No way would I pay the prices they are going for on the bay. I can get pounds of Northwoods for those crazy prices on 2 oz tins.

I paid more for the baccy (15 including shipping) than I did for the pipe. It was on a shelf with a tag under a pot holder. Estate folks messed up and didn't know what it was....good for me. Band is stamped 14K and a diamond stamp with AD in it.

I had a little typo in my post, I meant to say SG Chocolate Flake packs a pretty good kick. 1/2 a flake would have been about right. With Bama Samura's tolerance for vitamin N, he would probably use 3 whole flakes, LOL.

SGCF is not an aromatic; it has more of a cocoa flavor versus chocolate, and that isn't overly strong but noticeable. It also has a condiment dose of Latakia. The Latakia definitely stays in the background and is barely noticeable. I think it's something you don't taste that much, but you would. It's it if it wasn't there. It's a thicker flake, and not easy to rub out. That's one reason I used the air pocket method.

Be very careful with the torch... They are capable of igniting briar itself. Great pipe!

Nice pipe, that's really pretty grain. I like the effect with the smoke curling off the top of the bowl. Man, that is some bend! Great for clenching, although I clench straight pipes as well as bent, but bents do clench a little better IMHO.

SG Medium Virginia Flake in a Nording bent. I love the horizontal lines in the rustication. Nording likes to do that, and the result is a great feel in the hand.
