Finally home from work at a decent hour, caught up on all your great posts. Between working late and my boys new sleeping routine I've not shaved or kept up to date. I've missed this group and the people in it, which I will be honest I didn't expect. I guess I'm in for the duration now. I've noticed competition is definitely heating up where pics are concerned. They are all great. @Bama Samurai thanks for the heads up on the DOC it seems I missed that also. Very generous and thoughtful of you. :happy088: I'm off for my first shave in 3 days I have my head and face to do, I can't wait.

I wonder what is the purpose of the magnetized blade?

Superb shave tonight, I've not had 3 days growth since starting this wonderful art form. With that in mind I went with a new blade and really took my time. The 1st pass wtg, great reduction, if I was to judge my shaves on looks alone I could of quit there. I was only going to be satisfied ending with the baby on this shave though. Pleased to report I achieved it with 2 more passes xtg and atg. Minimal touch up and zero irritation. As much as I sulked about skipping shaves it served me well allowing previous mistakes to fully heal, including my first big cut which has left about a quarter inch scar on my head that I am very fond of. It's a great reminder of respect and will make me smile every time I see it. It's good to be back. Hope all are well.

5 out of my 9 blades are magnetized. I wish I knew why.

I did some google searches on it, and posted a thread on the razor in the straight razor section. Hoping to get some more answers there.

    Focus day 18

    Prep: Warm shower
    Blade: Rapira Stainless (3)
    Razor: Wet Shave Club 3-piece
Brush: Satin Tip 'The Purest' synthetic
    Lather: Proraso White shaving soap
Post: Witch hazel splash, Nivea sensitive balm
    WTG, XTG, minor touch-up

I had a little more time this morning than most so I was able to do a little more with XTG. Nice results; very smooth CCS.

I've been using a little more water with the Proraso, which has helped, as well as bearing down on the brush more during loading and during face lathering. I really pushed down today and splayed the bristles out when face lathering. It certainly made a difference - I got loads of lather! Each brush is different and I'm determining that this one can be used pretty aggressively.

The Rapira blades continue to do well. I have also enjoyed Personna lab blue and Gillette Silver Blue and want to continue to try out blades to find my daily standard.

Next month I'll be trying out some razors that are new to me and some new soaps. This month's lockdown on products, the blade, and the razor has been a great help in my DE development. I appreciate everyone's support, encouragement, and camaraderie in this thread.

Hope you all have a great day!

    Day 3 Merkur futur focus
    [IMG]
Third day with the Merkur Futur. Second day with a Rapira blade. Although Ive had three decent shaves with the Futur, it just doesnt compare to the Mongoose for a close shave. I find it more difficult to keep the right angle and it results in missed whiskers.

Day 20 - 90 Day Intro to SR

    image.jpeg

Day 20 of my intro...found myself with time for another "test" shave. Same idea as past two days, two precise passes and SR only touch up. Pass one went of without a hitch, but I set down the blade poorly on my left cheek, and left a nice little red line at the start of pass two. No big deal, and the shave ended up as a DFS+ with only a bit of alum burn in the neck folds. Fifty degrees under the sun today, and it made for a good January day. Other than that...all is quiet in Colorado!

    WD "Sight Unseen" 5/8
    L'Occitane Plisson Synthetic
    Route 66 - Lumberjack
    Alum

    Have a terrific Thursday!
