Had a great shave this morning.. Near bbs!!! Now I did nick myself twice but that was due to my hand positioning and me moving my face at the same time.. But extremely little irritation.. This is my second best shave yet..
I set aside my aggressive razors and trying to do just weishi. I had to let my face heal for a couple of days after trying the slim on setting 9..
    -hot shower
    -proraso green soap
    - weishi razor
    - Astra sp (2)
    -synthetic brush
-traders joes as balm and witch hazel

    Razor: J1
    Blade: Ted Pella (5)
    Oil: Secret Shave
    Lather: Equate Can (Walmart)

This is the 5th day on my quest for a cheapskate shave. After the normal prep, ( hot water, oil (2min wait), Canned lather). I again started with an ATG up to my ear then across cheek to ear and ATG the rest of that side. I do little clean-up strokes here and there along the way. Then do the other side, aprox. the same way. Wash up, leave face wet and apply a thin coat of lather all over. Next is Lady J`s turn to do her wheelies, like a teenager in his 1st car. Gentlemen, I tell you she performs magic..... outcome: at least a DFS (98%), which leads me to believe 1 more time on that blade. Things are starting to shape up on the test run, I have go to Walmart and double check prices, then over the week end I`ll put everything on paper with calculator and report Sunday or Monday ,or should I wait until I finish with my de test and do them together? What do you think, I`ve never done this kinda stuff before.

I`m having more fun than a barrel full of monkeys, Bill

BTW ... still smooth as she goes.

Thanks for the kind words. I`ve been retired for a little over 15 yrs. In that time I`ve tried several different hobbies, but none have given me as much fun or satisfaction. I AM a happy camper. Thanks again, Bill

Frey's Day: Day 12 of my second round of blade testing

    Prep:
Hot Shower, Nivea Moisturizing Face Wash
    Brush: @Jayaruh #33 Horsehair
Lather: Ginger's Garden Jasmine Oakmoss soap with clay and mango butter
Razor: Birth year/quarter Gillette Black Handle SS
    Blade: Crystal (3)
    Passes: WTG, XTG, XTG (7, 8, 9)
Post: Cold water rinse, Bloc Osma alum, Dickinson's Witch Hazel, Ginger's Garden Jasmine Oakmoss aftershave splash
    Cologne: Xeryus by Givenchy

The good news is that, by combining a nearly dry brush with a wet puck and face, I was able to get stable lather with the #33 today, without needing to reload the brush in 3 passes. The bad news is it shed 40 hairs, by actual count, and that the Crystal blade is clearly not a good one for me. Three passes got me a weeper by the Adam's Apple and results that barely rise above a SAS; I've had employers who would snidely ask if I forgot to shave, were I to go in to their establishment with these shave results.

It's MUCH colder than Alcolado Glacial or Osage Rub. It's like comparing day to night.
