Thanks, yeah it was 30-something dollars which wasn't too bad.
Now I just need to figure out what injector pack was originally in the box so I can complete the set - maybe one of the gold/brass colored ones?

    Another shot..:)

    Three Pass Shaving Routine..

Hot Water prep & massage with Coconut Oil
    German Rapide
    Heljestrand Hollow ground blade
    Hans Baier Silver Tip Badger
    Vitos Tallow Soap (Italy)
    Logona Mann Aftershave splash

I had my first shave with my German made Rapide with a Hollow ground blade..I have used this turn of the 19th Century SE with a Gem blade but this was a different experience altogether..I had to adjust the 2 small screws that you can see to get the Hollow ground to seat in the stops...The adjustments screw are there to take up any wear on blades through honing...Its a wee bit tedious but I got there in the end...I would say that the Rapide is just about centre right on the Aggression scale..Not as aggressive as the CV Heljestrand but a lot more so than the French L " Essor...The Rapide is a surprisingly very forgiving razor for all its Big lookin Jaws..These were mass produced in large numbers & were Cloned by many Companies including the more up market Henckels variation...:)

I ended up with a BBS Dolphin Smooth Finish after touching up under my nose with an Injector..I just couldn't get under my nose with the Rapide...All in all a real comfortable shave is to be had with this Old 1889 design I think it was..Here again I have been spoiled with the Swedish CV Heljestrand ...The Nordic Beauty is just leaps & bound ahead of any other Hollow Ground SE ...That said I enjoyed my shave with the Rapide & its simple robust design was away ahead of it time for sure..Its built like a Panzer Tank & no doubt will be cutting around for another Century or Two...In my humble opinion a Good Tallow Soap is almost a must with these Hollow Ground SEs.. Not a single cut, weeper or nick..Good Karma..:p

Billy already answered your question perfectly....I just wanted to add that.....with regular blades and all things such as prep and blades being equal, the G will definitely be more aggressive than the J's....But injectors are diferent than DE's....And I've found some absolutely beautiful shaves with very mild injectors....So I think you will enjoy all of these....And I've found the G's to be really great 2 pass savers aswell....

Let us know what you think when that G4 makes the scene.....}8^))

    Schick I1
NOS Schick Injector Twin blade (3)
    Plisson synthetic brush
    Valobra Fougere hard soap
    Pinaud Lilac Vegetal aftershave

I really liked the way that the twin blades worked in my Schick Adjustable and L1, but I'm not a big fan of their long handles. The other day I came across the I1 in my collection and the light bulb over my head lit up. :happy005:

A little work with the caliper confirmed that the I1 shares the head dimensions with the L1, and of course it does not have the Hydro-magic feature. The twin blade slid in smoothly and locked in perfectly against the blade stops. I've been shaving with this combo for the past 3 days.

This, folks, is a match made in heaven. The short handle makes the razor agile and maneuverable, and the ribs on the handle provide for a sure grip. I had previously dismissed the I1 as being excessively mild, but the twin blade Changes Everything. I cannot get over how incredibly close it shaves while at the same time remaining velvety smooth. These last 3 days I've enjoyed some of the best shaves I've had. Ever. BBS, dolphin smooth, super slick, whatever - and yet no weepers and not even the slightest hint of irritation.

Only downside is that the twin blades can be pricey and difficult to find. When this blade wears out I'll try one of the Japanese twin blades, which are easy to find (but still pricey).

If I was going to pick just one razor and blade combo, this just might be it.

But where's the fun in that?

The Type D provided a fantastic shave today. This little razor loaded with a Chick blade is very efficient without being overly aggressive.

    Beautiful razor Roger!

Coincidently, guess what finally arrived at my door in Seattle this week from Missouri via Florida?

The box isn't the greatest, but who shaves with the box? The razor appears to be in VG - Excellent condition!
It seems very clean and straight and may brighten up a bit with some minor cleaning.

After a month of focused shaves with the C1, I may just dedicate February to a month-long focus with this one!

Many thanks to @Karl G for spotting this for me, with encouragement from our Scottish Injector Conan - @Billyfergie .

Thanks Karl, and thanks for alerting me to it on the bay.
It looks clean and straight. I'll give it some touch up cleaning and look forward to an extended trial in February.
