All Danish late night... Danish Crown 951 Villiger 1888 After Dinner (Standard VaPer) - opened tonight after a year in the cellar.
Smoker's Pride Mellow in a Lorenzo Studio while reading the paper and drinking coffee. I decided the Smoker's Pride was a good choice to see which of my pipes were the best smokers. The Studio performed well, a very nice hour and a half smoke with the large bowl, you have to make sure you have plenty of time with this one.
That is a very nice Rhodesion pipe. I absolutely love this photo! The antique clock, lamp, and revolver, which I'm guessing is a French MAS. My first thought was a Webley, but after looking closer I think it's a French design, probably an 1873 or 1875 MAS. How close am I on the revolver?
Forgive if I'm wrong, but if this is your first post in our little corner if the The Shave Den, welcome to the Pipe of the Day thread!
Thanks! I've been working on staging better photos after seeing everybody else's. The revolver is a Swiss 6.5mm. The clock is a Seth thomas deck clock marked us navy, 1942. Unfortunately somebody painted the black bakelite green at some point. ....scraping the rest off is on the to do list.
This is my evening smoke for tonight, but an old photo. Will probably fill with GL Pease gaslight And yes, this might be my first post in POD, thank you for the kind welcome!
Oh man, I missed the revolver all the way around! Do you know the date of manufacture? I like firearms in general, but really love the old guns like this. My oldest gun is a Smith & Wesson M&P Model of 1905, 2nd change, made about 1906.
I'm going to have to take some lessons from you in composing photos! Very nice pipe and photo. Tell us about the pipe and the pocket watch.
That Swiss gun is from late 1880's I believe. These are some of my oldest: The watch was something I inherited from my grandfather (along with quite a few guns), it is very very old. The pipe is a savinelli 320 aligator. A modern piece, but a great smoker! I'm relatively new to pipes, but have found that I really like the author shapes/style.
Unfortunately, other cousins now have both of my grandad's pocket watches, and I have no idea whatever happened to their old DE razors, nor my dad's. I do have a few items from my parents/grandparents, I'll be sure to include a few of them in some of my upcoming pics. If you haven't already, you should post some pics of your antique guns with some of your shave gear in the Shavers and Firearms thread. I've intended to do so, and have just never gotten around to it. But you've inspired me with your photos!
Those are amazing arms! Tonight is your second visit to the thread. Welcome back! I asked you about your photo, it featured a Savinelli pipe and an antique match holder, maybe two weeks ago.
Tobacco Closeup Pic Villiger 1888 After Dinner, just opened, sixteen perfect flakes, totalling 1.76oz (50g) of the VaPer goodness.
Sorry to hear that. When I get a cold, sinus infection, etc, pipes are a definite no go. I hope you feel better soon.
McClelland Virginia Woods in a Neerup free style sitter. McClelland Virginia blends really benefit from about 6 months aging. They seem to have a bit of PG in them, so I've never jarred any of them and they don't dry out left in their original container. But there isn't enough PG that they become goopy. There also seems to be a very mild casing with Virginia Woods, but not to the point of crossing over into an aromatic.
