This is from a fellow (Calabash) over on another board. Let's you know how to use an injector blade in an Ender's Speed Razor. Hope this is useful to y'all

I did get a Enders Speed that is in like new condition, I also really like the overall design and visual appeal of the Enders.
And like most tried to shave with the proprietary razor blades....and well they are not up to par with the quality we expect for a decent shave.
So I tried to do a hone by hand using the hone and strop from my Rolls razor...better but still not so good.

So measuring the width of the blade and it is very very close to the width of an injector blade so...
During the manufacturing of the injector blades that I have...the Chinese Schicks... have a small edge material on each side of the blade when they are cut during operations.

    1. I did modify the injector blade very carefully by taking a small file and filing off a little off of each side.
    2. Taking the Enders blade out of the razor, I slide the injector blade in all the way to the come guard.
    3. If the injector blade does not fit flat, you will have to remove a little more material from the sides.
    4. Once the injector blade is all the way forward, and flat and square with the comb, I just put the original Enders blade in over the injector blade, and snap into place...this will hold the Injector blade.
    5. Of course the sharp edge of both blades are now on top of each other, and that did work, but not perfect.
    6. So I have modified an Enders blade by grinding off the sharp edge away, about 1/16 of an inch so that the enders blade does not interfere with the Injector, and now basically a clip and not a blade.

It works well for me since the Chick blade is so sharp the razor now shaves well, the only drawback is that I have to take both blades out to clean and dry after each shave. Not a big deal since I use the razor in rotation about once a week.

The good...No modifications to the razor, just to a old blade.

The Bad...you have to be extremely careful modifying the blades, the Injector blades are so small and sharp (hard to handle loose) so I used pilers to hold the blade while filing the ends.
And a small vice to hold the Enders blade and file the sharp edge away.

The shaves...Very good keeping the head almost flat to the face as most SE's, love the curve shape in the handle.

Yes some work involved, but better than letting the razor sit in a box, hope it works for you.

30-day focus with my Schick Type C1 - The Simplified Schick Automatic Razor.

    Shave 16

    Razor: Schick Type C1
Blade: NOS Schick Twin Injector 1973 (1)
    Soap: Saponificio Varesino 70th Anniversary

    IMG_3669.JPG

This will be the 6th and final blade type that I will try this month in the C1. I will attempt to give a final review at the end of the month but all blades have performed very well in the trials.

So last night I prepped for this shave by loading a Schick Twin Blade into the C1. I load my blades into the C1 manually and noticed that this blade seemed different in size. I have not taken measurements, but it seems wider and thicker than other blades used in it. AND with more blade exposure.

Twin blade on left. Schick ‘Chick’ on right.

    IMG_3666.JPG

The fit into the C1 was extremely tight. Prior to getting this razor, the seller had it reconditioned at Razor Emporium. My sense is that they attempt to return these things as close to manufacturers specs as possible. This blade will be a bear for me to get out of the razor, but…

I was extremely anxious this morning and took it real slow. Whether it’s the exposure or the blade sharpness, I got a very clean and extremely close shave that is now eight hours old and still has that ‘just shaved’ feeling. The exposure made me go especially slow and easy around my vulnerable spots - chin and corners of my mouth. No nicks or weepers, great shave.

I’ll be spending the rest of the week with this blade.

    Cheers!

:signs154:That's right Vince..Between the extra blade exposure & the sharpness of these blades they provide an awesome shave in the Repeater..They work really well..Glad you enjoyed it..It has to be done to be appreciated ..:)

    Thanks Billy!
I hadn't realized how tight the fit of the blade and razor would be. It was easy enough to get it in (using the underside of my wooden desk! yes, that is an approved technicians tool!), but I'll be wondering how in blazes I'm going to get it out!

Oh well, glad I chose this blade to be the last one for the month. Having it snug-fit in there I'm not going to remove it until that blade wears out!

I found them a tad tighter for sure but they went in & came out easily enough..It will depend on how much someone has tightened the head to take a thinner current injector blade.. :happy088:

Thanks! This is very interesting. I've often seen these razors and passed them over because the blades are no longer produced. Very unique looking razors. May need to give one a go for the right price.

After some consultation with Vince and an examination of my equipment I've come to the decision that I picked up entire pack of bad Schick injector blades. Every shave, regardless of razor, was a miserable, painful, bloody mess. I repeatedly changed the blades, but each shave was bad. I even tested a blade on the back of my hand, to make sure of my angle, and ended up with a red, irritated hand the next morning. I was beginning to wonder why anyone would like these things.

Today I opened another injector cartridge package and started over. I used the Type K1 Lady Eversharp (mine now, the wife likes her Tech better) and ended up with a comfortable DFS. I really like the long handle on this razor. The Maggard Mango Sage Tea is a really nice, easy to lather soap (with the WD silvertip) with a very light scent.

I was about to give up on injectors but Vince convinced me to keep trying. Thanks Vince![IMG]

I'm glad you finally figured it out! That is weird to have a bad pack of blades go figure. I'm sure you know this but as easy as it is to change blades in these always be aware that the blade isn't somehow cockeyed and hitting the stops that will ruin a blade also. Enough of that, enjoy your shaves!

First off that Elite razor handle in turquoise is amazing, second GEM stainless blade? Wondering how you made that work. Was it difficult or did you just take the spine off?

With 2 and half days of growth I was undecided as to today's shave. All the talk about Twins lately had me thinking of using one of my favorites with that combo but when I saw the PAL Adjustable I just reached for it. It was the first shave with this razor (the others being with a pass-around.) Wow. Just wow. The shy girl was not in hiding. In fact, she was downright forward. So much so that I turned down the dial after the first pass. The whiskers didn't stand a chance. She just wiped them clean away without even a muss. She left me smiling for sure with that coveted dolphin smooth BBS feeling all around. I've been on the road and this was a great welcome home. :happy036:

    Thanks Red.

I checked blade alignment, watched especially on loading a new blade, checked the razor for damage...etc. I even measured blade gaps. I figured it HAD to be ME because that many blades couldn't be bad, right? But the first blade from the new cartridge was completely different. Very strange. I'm still not entirely sure it's not me.

How do you like the shave with the AutoStrop? It is one very medieval, but cool, looking razor. :happy088:

I have let no blood so far, and I don't expect to. I have a third AS, but the part that holds the blade has been spread and I am not confident to shave with it. For me, it is more of a novelty razor. I will probably pull them out one week out of the year for the fun of it, but I would much rather be shaving with one of my Schicks than these. I get a pretty good shave, but I am afraid that if I go for better, I will let blood. But, you are right, it is one very medieval, but cool, looking razor.

Two more shaves, and they will go back into the collection for display.

Thanks Mike. Took the spine off and popped it right in. I used a pair of pliers. It was easy. Look here.
