Steady it on the vanity top. I have since sold mine, but I found it difficult to hold it, full of water and lather. They're big, beautiful and heavy!
This just arrived: a Frank Shaving extra density finest badger knot and an NOS pack of vintage Derby blades made in Germany (Ebay, got them for the minimum bid of 1 €). The seller even sent an extra blade so I can try them withouth having to open the package
Thank you. I have been placing a 6" piece of shelf backing under it. the material is rubberized, i think this one was originaly designed to be out under a plant. but anyway, I've been setting the bird on this mat, then using it right on the vanity. I could hold it while in use, but I'm a little worried the warm water( hot but not boiling) will spill onto me. but it seems to work pretty good sitting on its own. I'm liking the warm lather shaves.
Amazon has a sale on Feather AS D2 razors so finally I broke down and bought one. A beautiful piece for sure. Extremely well made, I said I would never buy one... Well, never say never!
Oh well figured if I'm going to fall NB16 might as well fall hard. Newly arrived Tech Fest. Three triangular base plates. All having thicker top plate. Anyone tell I'm a fan of early Gillette Tech's Pictured here prior to cleaning. Newly arrived. The rocket is a English made Canadian issue 1951 W2 "no made in". I already have one of these this one is good minus one end cap cover. Shaves like a Red Tip.
Misphit, the loose razors are mounted nails with the points ground off and coated with a durable white epoxy finish. I just picked up two more ranger techs with cases. I've got a bad case of RAD...
Looks like a work of art - beautiful Been thinking about getting one myself, but over here it's still 190€ (approx $210)
In the mail came a pleasant surprise, a letter from the President and CEO of PPG thanking me for my five years of service and a brochure of gifts from which to choose(watches, rings, bracelets and assorted bangles and baubles.) I'll let my Mrs pick out something for herself. AND... from FedEx a box containing the Art of Shaving Sandlewood pre shave oil courtesy of Mr.@Kamen Tenshi. Thank you and kudos to you my good friend. ... To be continued... Don
From my 50% off purchase. My first Nanny's products: Cedarwood and Vetyver shave soap and a Coconut pre-shave soap. If I'm reading the date code correct, the shave soap is nearly two years old (It certainly looks like it is) so I'm curious about trying that one. Other first timers: TOBS Grapefruit and TOBS Avocado. People don't lie when they say the Avocado has a special scent. It is very "vegetably" but I don't dislike it. A nice and big shaving bowl, described as being light orange inside and dark grey outside. To me it's peach inside and grey with blue spots on the outside Some blades from G&C. I hope they agree with my face. On the left: Three Antiga Barbearia de Bairro brushes, AKA Semogues ,from G&C - Two bristle 75% Tops and a pure badger. I already started working on the boars to the left, working up some lather with LEA cream. These are my first boars and I'm a bit exited. The mystery brush. I found it on eBay where it was sold as "the new Semogue 208" and the box does indeed say Semogue 208. The thing that struck me was that, apart from a couple of details, it looks exactly like the ABB's Principe Real brush. I looked underneath, and although it had been painted over, you could tell that it originally had been marked with the ABB logo. You can't tell from the pics, but the light green colour is a bit off compared to the ABB, the "ring" is plastic, it has the Exelcior sticker and the bristle looks a bit dirtier than on the ABB brush. It cost about 8 euro's and sold out the same evening it bought it
Received these four New Forest brushes in the mail this week. Three out of the five wood handled brush handles that Peter ever made. Lucky @Hodge has one...and the fifth one is in hiding. These wood handled ones has some amazing knots and cant wait to take the for a spin. The fourth one is the very first travel brush he did - a very small 1901. From left to right: 1901, Tambootie handle w/ Silvertip knot, Oak handle w/ two-band knot, and Tambootie handle w/ two-band knot. Some "close-ups": 1901 Tambootie handle w/ Silvertip knot Tambootie handle w/ two-band knot Oak handle w/ two-band knot
Is the silvertip a shorter loft height, or is it just an illusion from brush shape and handle length?
The darker one? Yeah, it looks fantastic in person as well and the handle shape is very nice. Will be great fun to use it.
I think you're right. The somewhat vague description is: The dark wood Tambootie w/ 2 band knot: "the knot set at a standard height" and the light wood Tambootie w/ Silvertip is "22mm set at 47mm" Now if I only knew what 'standard height' is - but yes, they are set a bit differently.
