Yeah that's my biggest challenge. Let's see, stay away from 5 Guys, every steakhouse in town, no ribs or bbq in a bbq town.......wait, what am I living for again?!! LOL
You live for the thrill! Hop in your car, seat belt optional. Do this now. Wear sunglasses. Grossly exceed posted speed limits to nearest STL "pizza" joint, get all the meats with Pro-Vel. Plus pitcher of regular bud. And hot sauce. Then without removing glasses, "have a friend" drive you home. Reinsert central line with Narcotics. Soviet SR or Rapira/(bad Pakistani steel) bbs in one Atg pass. Get cracking. Welcome back.
Yes, I have multiple strops. I have strops dedicated to pastes. I use cheap strops both linen and leather and think either works. I also have clean strops that has either linen or webbing and leather. I like to keep my pastes and clean strops separate. You can also use balsa wood as a pasted strop.
Straights Focus January 27: Homemade PS Oil Stirling Synthetic Brush Stirling Ben Franklin SS Ontario Cutlery Co Stirling Unscented PSB Stirling Ben Franklin AS A birthday shave this morning, so I broke out my favorite Stirling soap and AS. I was able to get the lather to the perfect consistency for my shave. I made a single pass and checked how things felt. All in all, it was pretty good, better than a SAS level. So I decided I would call it good and cleaned everything up. I put on a little AS and went out to feed the dog, and I found my wife had gotten up early to make some coffee and see me off. It was just a great start to my day and reminded me of how blessed I am.
01/27/2016 AlumiGoose with Hempel Ti Feather Pro (4) Rudy Vey with Shavemac Finest Soap Commander Renewal Shave Stick Witch Hazel Fine Platinum Whipped Shea Butter Another automatic near BBS work morning shave. Since it is so similar to my B2 Mongoose, I feel that I have the AlumiGoose dialed in at this point. My biggest discovery this month has been the use of Whipped Shea Butter post shave. The skin care provided has moved my shaves to the next level. I don't really like the scent of shea butter so I did get it lightly scented with lavender and citrus. I hope everyone has a great Wednesday.
Wednesday 2 pass perfection. This was shave #11 on the Persona blue blade and everything worked quite well. Prep: Warm wash Lather: TSE tallow bay rum scent Razor: Blackbird Blade: Persona Lab Blue (11)
1/27/16 Phoenix Double OC Gillette Silver Blue (2) Jayaruh #27 with WD Silvertip knot Mitchell's Wool Fat Georgetown G12 Scuttle Pinaud Clubman Original Another fine BBS shave with my Phoenix DOC loaded with the Gillette Silver Blue. Today is my first shave using my new @Jayaruh #27 Silvertip. This is only the second badger I've tried and I'm pleasantly surprised at the difference. The brush loaded very well and smoothly without pushing the pre-lather out of the container. Seemed to like a little more water than the Vulfix super Badger. A couple of minutes in the scuttle gave me lather that was creamy and slick. I didn't notice as much scritch when applying the lather, but it went on smooth and the brush wasn't floppy. My impression is that it went on with the same thickness as my other badger at first, but it seemed to allow me better control how thick I wanted the lather to end up. Did my normal 2 pass shave with small amount of touch up after pass #2, followed by a cool water rinse and even less touch up brought home the baby. The Clubman was mild and the JR #27 had enough lather left for at least 2 more passes. I hope everyone has a wonderful Wednesday!
Even the oil tames it down, but the balm does a little more. Both make it soft and smell great. I got a professional beard cut that makes a dig difference too. Goatee is almost a hand width long, the bottom always wanted to curl out. Between the cut and oil or balm it falls right into place.
I try my best to keep it neat with a beard trimmer. I've started using a comb and just trimming the tops of the few unruly hairs. I'm slightly hesitant of adding more addictions to my already out of control shaving illness.
I was doing fine when I kept it short. If I could use my beard trimmer with a guard I did OK. now its more freeform, too long for any of the guards. I was pleasantly surprised how good a pro made it look. Worth the $12, and that included a hair trim and neck shave. The honeysuckle smell goes nicely with Dragon's Blood, but once I start collecting other scents, I will want more oils. They do have unscented, but where's the fun in that?
January 27 - Day 7, Shave 6 Edwin Jagger DE89 Feather (3) Pre-Shave Oil Omega 10066 Boar Shaving Brush Reef Point Dragon’s Blood Alum, Pinaud Clubman Mod Cabin Honeysuckle beard balm Another DFS, almost BBS - but I'm not chasing that. I have some samplers of Chiseled Face soap and after shave on order, may rotate through those next month. Same soap, different scents so that still counts in the 30 day rule, right?
