    Thanks, Bama; very well done.
I certainly could not have done as nice a job fixing that as you did.
Truth be told, I have to work hard at not pointing out grammatical errors (especially when the writer is being critical) I note in print and remind myself to be gracious and tolerant.

I use nothing more than my tablet to take a picture. I take pictures prior to my shave but don't post them until after the shave so I can comment appropriately.
I appreciate the effort taken by all who add a picture, regardless of how unartistic or simple the photo maybe to them. For me it's not about the quality of the photo but the added effort taken. It's not a competition it's a shared experience.
If I've never said it "I thank and applaud all who collectively take the time share their knowledge in all mediums"

Au contraire, mon ami! For me, I like to see and learn what certain razors actually look like, the brushes people use, the soap tin label, scuttle, etc.
Much information gleaned than just from mere words alone.

When I first started out, I found the SOTD thread helpful in seeing what kind of gear was out there. It is also entertaining to read because it's not just shaving as folks share things going on in their lives. It helps make this feel like a community. I also love the photos - I usually make mine the night before because I don't have time in the morning - there are lots of very talented photographers posting! I don't think photos are necessary, but it's half the fun for me.

I'm new here and I have missed the SOTD threads. Been hanging out on the 30 day thread, and posting pics. I still read everything, it's interesting to see what people are using and if they like it. For me, the pics are an exercise in another hobby. I enjoy taking them, and I enjoy what others are doing. Scratches a different itch, if you will...

As a newbie, just 7 or so months ago, SOTD impressed me. I rarely posted my gear at a site I'm now banned from.
After joining another forum, not this one, I had gotten the basics down & started paying attention to others equipment. That 2nd forum I soon perceived was all about the very expensive badger brushes. My RAD & SAD had caught me up, but I only owned a VDH boar brush. I still asked questions, gained skill, and tried to keep up with them Jones. Felt a little inadequate mostly.
My 3rd forum ( I'm almost here, I promise) focused on straight razors. That was when I got distracted by a FatBoy.
And then I figured out how to switch this forum to Cool Blue Mode. (Bottom left corner!!) The default style was hard for me to read. You guys are more accepting of the diversity of experience & equipment. Not that I feel I know it all, far from it. But I'm in with the cool kids here. Doesn't matter if they just purchased their first DE, or have been doing it for years. Text or photo still paints a picture.
My SOTD is testament to how far I've progressed because of this community. One day my kids will go through my laptop and think I went insane.
    Thank you Gentlemen, and Ladies.

I like text, I like pics, I like it when posts have both. Room enough for everyone here. Sometimes it is nice to have eye candy but when some is using similar gear or something I want to try then text can be a big help. It certainly helped me when I started with a DE and was invaluable as I learn to straight shave.

Sometimes I take a quick pic with my cell phone so I can remember what I used, could be early dementia. Writing about my shave helps me, I can look back and compare.

I enjoy seeing and hearing about all levels of great and software, everything from Arko to SMN.

Keep the posts coming. Thank you to all who participate with good intentions.

:signs011: What I write here makes sense to me ... but maybe not always to everyone else :D

Back to topic: There's a SOTD thread at the german forum, and you will rarely see any pictures there - 95% text. Also people mostly just post their gear and not much else. I read most of it anyways because I like to see what others shave with, which combinations of blade and razor, brush and soap work for them.

That being said, I prefer the SOTD thread here. Not just because of the pictures, but also because of the little stories people tell.
This is exactly what it feels like:
And even if I don't comment on each and every one of them, I appreciate every picture shown, regardless of the level of "professionality". For me it's fun taking pictures (with varying degrees of success) and showing them here. I can merge two of my hobbies that way.

It was more of rant and mentioning of a preference on my part. I was not intending to be critical. Always feel free to correct grammatical errors on my part even if via PM, as I welcome constructive improvement. Many times the message I want to convey in my mind overwhelms my writing of it.
