B&M, Bullgoose, Maggards among others. It helps to not be tempted by email offers. I'm still trying to finalize a design on a brush that began in Nov/Dec. Otherwise it's been fun restraining myself. There's been some awesome stuff on BSTs... really.
I am down to my last two Polsilver SI's, so I ordered some yesterday. Really not after anything, no temptations. Winter will be ending soon, and am excited to break out all the citrus and menthol soaps that have been hibernating. As I said at the onset, when Rod from Stirling announces what the Glacial lineup is going to be I will probably order a soap and an AS. The Blackbird has rapidly become my favorite razor, even passing up my ATT S2, and when the OC is released I might have to fall off the wagon for that one. Putting a big den clearance together so,that will fund the OC if it happens, and I will probably end up owning fewer razors at the end of the year than I started with.
I will join the NB 16 crew....... at least until summer. One step at a time haha! I've been spending way too much and I admit I may have been excessive in my pursuit of shiny gillettes. Just in case anyone is wondering, no my wife is not forcing me to write this at gunpoint.
Let's just say that after the last 3 purchases, I hide all the sharp implements in the house before going to bed and i sleep with one eye open. Think I will download that app for my phone where you only have to click on one icon to send a secret message to the authorities that you are in danger
Could not even last the month. http://theshaveden.com/forums/threads/what-are-you-waiting-on-to-arrive.36418/page-320#post-979553 Best of luck to the rest of you gents.
I sure have a good feeling not to have brushes/soaps/blades/razors on order. I know I busted the NB2016 with the Ambrose scuttles, but would do it again. These guys are very rare and hard to come by. My wife agreed for me to purchase the scuttles. For the past several weeks I have been doing a four brush rotation - Semogue 1250, Semogue 1470, Barbear Classico Cerda, and my newly completed Made-Rite/Semogue 1460. Soaps have included MWF, Tabac, Krampert's Acadian Spice Bay Rum, Krampert's Frostbite, and Sir Hare Classic Barber. Been keeping the lather toasty warm with the Ambrose brush scuttle. Razors, brushes, and blades are definitely out. My weakness is soaps and I sincerely do not want to acquire any more soaps. I have almost pulled the trigger a couple of times but did not. Lots of enablers here talking about new soaps. I keep telling myself - same lather, just a different scent.
Soaps are hard for me too. I just keep having to remind myself how lucky I am to have so many great ones that I can't decide which to use.... I am looking forward to using up some of these. It is my motivation to stay purchase free.
Must be odd guy out here, no temptations, in fact will be purging more items (1 possibly 2 razors) soon. I have razors, blades, brushes and soaps that work excellent for me and really no desire to add to den. Soaps and blades good for this year at least. Some aftershaves however will likely need replacing next year. Also will be purging a classic glass aftershave bottle, AV, just don't use it enough. Still 3/4 full after a 15 months. 2 others not replacing. My shaving budget has been reassigned to pipes and baccy....
So far so good. I have PIFd three razors, sent a couple of unfavourable soap pucks to the shower to do some hard time, and I am slowly working through some soaps and creams. I don't have much of a craving to click "complete purchase" on anything. My real test will come this summer when I hit the antique stores...and that "still in the original packaging, mint condition vintage Gillette" looks at me and says "hello handsome, wanna take me home with you?" Other than that...I am fine. How is everyone else doing on their self-imposed NB16 journey of discovery?
No problems so far. No urges to buy anything either. Got plenty of stuff for a good rotation. Unless something super fantastic like a Schick "O" injector shows up, I"m good.
Day 28 and I am still holding strong! Even giving stuff away! I may need to re-order some injector blades though as I am nearly out. Unless someone wants to trade those too! Very little temptation and loving what I have!
Keep hanging in there guys. Have faith, willpower, you can overcome your impulses to buy. Cuz I've really been enjoying the lack of competition on eBay lately
I'm full blown out. My next razor will be the ultra smooth Blackland Blackbird. Thanks to the tax man.
