image.jpeg Razor: Gillette New SC Red & Black set 1930s
Brush: Fuller Amber Badger 1920s -1940s
Mug: Old Spice 1985 Cobalt Blue
    Cream: Cella classica 1899
    Blade: Feather (2)
Post shave: Thayers Cucumber WH, Jack Black Balm, Pinaud Clubman AS
Back with the Gillette New SC, I really like both the LC and SC. Loaded a Feather blade, and checked the alignment. The Badger whipped up a thick warm lather in my go to OS Mug. Very close two pass shave with some touchup. More aggressive than the LC so I had to pay close attention. Warm water rinse and pat dry. Some WH and after cleanup some JB Balm. Then some Clubman. Feels like I just left the barbershop. Nice razor, great feedback and I can get into some spots on my neck with only a little buffing. I'm glad I got both the SC and LC. Y'all have a good one!

I shaved with a Phoenix Acroutements DOC I recieved in a PIF, and here is my feelings on using this razor.
First off, the packaging is excellent, a sturdy cardboard box with very aesthetically pleasing graphics. The razor itself has a chrome plated zamak head with what the chrome plated brass handle has a comfortable weight. It is heavier than the original self Lubricating Razor. The DOC takes the edge on the weight issue the head is slightly different from the original in that the top cap has less grooves which makes for larger slots. The slots are longer as well. The knurling on the DOC is very aggressive giving a good grip. Both razors are great lookers. There is no problem loading a blade and it sits evenly. The original has a larger blade exposure.
    The shave.
I used B&M Seville soap and face lathered with my vintage Rubberset reknotted silvertip . With the first stroke I knew the razors were different. The DOC is aggressive compared to Shave King. Not aggressive in a bad way, just very efficient. There is less lather left behind with each stroke but it's not a bad thing. My shave was excellent ending up BBS. Right now I will give the edge to the DOC. I would buy this razor. Both razors were loaded with a new Voskhod blade. I will shave with the original tomorrow using the same soap and report back tomorrow. The Razor is a keeper.

Good review! Goes to show though, that MMV. I find the DOC rather inefficient (without comparison to the Shave King). On the other hand it's smooth and a keeper in my den as well.

@Roderick, thanks for such a well written informative review. I've been eyeing that razor for a while, but skipped on it due to reading about some QC issues. Apparently they've fixed the problem. It's a beautiful razor. Enjoy! :happy088:

    Have a great day!
Decided to palm strop the Polsilver SI blade to get a fifth shave. Results...BBS. Maybe there's something to that?
I am ready to move to setting 8 on the Fat Boy. MWF is quickly becoming my #1 soap. And to think that I drank the Kool-aid regarding the difficulty of lathering this soap...:shocked029:

    Thank you sir.
It was the first time using the pewter scuttle and it did a fantastic job retaining heat during the shave.

I bet it's got a healthy weight to it too. Pewter is usually hefty. :)

Not the most bone-chillingly cold setup but still very respectably cold. The Sottozero soap has a lovely minty/mentholy scent with such rich, creamy lather which whips up so easily - hell, just ten swirls are more than enough for a multi-pass shave. I find the cooling effect very similar to Proraso Green, in fact it's maybe a bit stronger and the skincare is excellent. The Gold Bond, together with the Alt Innsbruck makes a great, icy finish to a good shave if you're as into menthol as I am. My Astra is doing the job very well so far! ;) :D

Love the scuttle! Matches well with the razor. Also get a little glimpse of @Darkbulb reflecting back in the shine. Don't see the plate of cookies I expected though.
