I've had a very nice January. The Razors A 1941 Ranger Tech in very nice shape. A 1955 Blue Tip in box. Two German travel razors. I especially like the first one. A Hoffritz slant found in the wild. These are before and after pictures. Most of the gold plating was already gone, and the Maaz polish took off the rest. I like the look. A no-name open comb. I've used it once, and didn't get that good of a shave. I'll try it a few more times, but it will probably end up in my "Gillette knock-off" display. I'll have to continue in a second post. As I said, it was a very nice January.
I've had a very nice January, Part II Other Stuff An Old Spice stein. This may be my favorite find of the month. I can't guess how many times I've overlooked this at one of my local shops. It's a Calvert Taste Test Kit, a promotional item ca. 1960's. The box contained everything it would have upon purchase: 2 shot glasses, directions for a comparative tasting, and 3 ID cards verifying the carrier as a "fully accredited Whiskey Expert."
Went to the Danish equivalent of Boots, Matas, to exchange a Christmas present and ended up with this lot. Most of it was hidden on a bottom shelf behind a stack of Bic razors. The Matas shaving soap is part of the stores new(ish) line of products for men. It has a light citrusy fern? scent. The Kappus cream is from Germany and apparently has an aloe/grassy scent. I think most of you know Erasmic and Proraso
Gisle, I LOVE the Matas soap. Its scent is mild, yes but it's still very nice and the lather is terrific. Its post-shave feeling is pretty good also!
It's Shave The Queen soap of Tiffanyanne Kosma. She has an etsy shop called RitualShaving...Tiki brand made the soap for her shop.
