  2. Recently I got a bit swindled via an online razor package deal. Then this happened, retribution. Could not believe what I saw online for an unbelievable price $31.50 with delivery. I took the risk communicated with the older gentlemen and sent him the money. One week later (this evening) I get a knock at the door, it's the mailman asking for a signature to receive my package.

  8. Received this old HeldTite brush this week;

I was a bit 'worried' that it would be a bit bigger - but it turned out it was of a perfect size and seems to fit into the bunch pretty well:

  11. Thanks,
FatBoy yes but not a ranger tech as they have a smooth collar between handle and knob.
It's a 1950 or 51 Super-Speed based rocket according to case and marking on razor, which has
Pat.Nos.On.Pkg. Made in USA. Very similar to Canadian 1951 rocket W2 Super Speed style.
Same weight and style with only the markings varying.
These shave slightly more aggressive than a Red Tip Having tried 3 different red tips and 3 50/51 SS rockets.

  13. That's interesting, I wonder why Gillette went through the trouble of marketing the red tip as it's aggressive razor for heavier beards and not this one. It sure is cool, and so is the instruction booklet that came with them originally. :happy088:

  15. Picked this up yesterday for $6.
I don't care for the scent of Skin Bracer but I couldn't pass it by so it will join my other vintage aftershaves on the shelf.

...or maybe it's time I learned to like it.
  16. Thank You gentlemen. I really enjoy the hunt, the antiscipation and the rejuvenation of vintage shaving gear in particular vintage razors.
Out there lies a RFB razor, a Schick type D, F and rubber set 400 brush waiting to be rediscovered.

Here is the SS based rocket cleaned up and polished.

The FB is a 1959 E2. Here it is cleaned up.

Hard to believe the condition of the FB. Red spring and all numbers still black after 59 years.

  18. Into the Restoration Queue: This very old Sheffield razor arrived late yesterday. It was made by William Greaves & Sons of Sheffield, England. The razor dates to approximately 1815-1823 (prior to the company's move to the Sheaf Works in 1824). Rare to find a razor this old that still has the original scales AND hardware in good condition. This razor will require some time to bring it back to its former glory, but it should be a beaut! :)

  19. Stunning...
Are you planning on keeping it...or sell it once it is restored..?
  20. Do you know anything about the symbols on the scales?
