What the heck. I realized I have an early morning and won't get back until late so I went ahead and had a late shave tonight. I scrounged up a used modified feather for my newly acquired black handled early E2 and started my routine. There is something about those first few strokes with a new razor that are always a bit magical. This one seemed to whisper as she moved across my face. So lightly did it glide that I wasn't sure it was actually shaving. Keeping it light with just enough angle was like being shaved by an angel, just a soft caress as the whiskers were wiped away. Conclusion? The early type E2s are fantastic shavers and the black handle on this one makes it just that much more enjoyable. With a modified feather I think you have to be more mindful of technique but you are rewarded with an exceptionally smooth shave when you do. Full shave report here. January 30 Gillette Flare Tip Super Speed (Z3) Feather (2) Kent BK8 silvertip badger XPEC unscented Alum, Thayer's Lavender witch hazel, unrefined shea butter, and Fine Platinum I had a busy week at work, so I'm looking forward to a laid back weekend. We're expecting 60 degrees and sun today. A two-pass shave with this set up is a great start to a Saturday. XPEC unscented is a good performer, but it's not too exciting. I finally switched out the Vigoroso for the Fine Platinum. Just too many great aftershave scents to choose from. I hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

Van Yulay Saturday I cheated on Barrister & Mannuary today. I'm not proud, or tired. I just had to try out some new products that I got while taking advantage of a discount. I already love VY PSO, new to me is their Posiedon soap. I'd never tried a ylang-ylang scent before, and the other ingredients like sea buckthorn intrigued me, too. I won't review it yet, but this shave was a nice one. The splash is great - Shuyak Island is in Alaska, so the menthol option seemed appropriate. The scent reminds me of Versace Pour Homme, I plan to describe it more fully after more uses. SATURDAY Early morning Saturday shave; Japanese H. Diamond 8000 13/16—truly an exceptional razor. Three plus passes for as near a BBS shave I dare chase. A real pleasurable experience. Have a great weekend, everyone!
Ah, this shave was so smooth, cooling, and fresh from the TFS Sottozero soap. A few swirls of my Turkish horsehair had the lather overflowing from the tub and the minty scent filled the bathroom. The Alt Innsbruck aftershave is a delightfully-scented face-freezer!
SOTD January 30, 2016 Prep: Warm shower Blade: Schick injector Razor: Schick Eversharp G1 injector Brush: Trader Joe's synthetic Lather: Soap Commander Vision Post: Witch hazel splash spritzed with Fine Platinum, Nivea sensitive balm WTG, XTG, touch-up First foray with the Schick Injector razor, circa early 1950s. It's a really neat razor! It's lightweight but easily maneuverable. I found the Schick blade to be pretty sharp. Overall I really enjoyed using this razor and will look forward to using it in the future. The Trader Joe's brush is a decent brush - pretty stiff for a synthetic. It whipped up a large load of Soap Commander Vision lather. I had no trouble getting a rich, yogurty coating through a face lather. Two passes for as close to DFS as I've been. I hope you all have a great weekend!
