Thanks Roby. I was tempted to use one of my pipes and actually blow smoke into the scene but I have a strict rule of no smoking in my house so relented to using a photo filter and cutting density down to 20%.

Shave today was with the Grand Shave King Self Lubricating razor, comparing it to the Phoenix Double Open Comb. I had a helper this morning as my 5 year old Grandson Mason had a sleepover last night. He lathered with Proraso Blue and shaved with a Gillette Red Tip and was very serious getting his shave just right.

We were listening to Deadends and Detours this morning, they were playing tunes from the Jefferson Airplane in memory of the death of founding member Paul Kantner. Having company in the bathroom during my shave is a little disconcerting. One does not concentrate as much when you are watching a young shaver for the first time. He did two passes and was done, going out to the living room to watch Dr. Who with Gramma Bernice and waiting for me to finish and cook pancakes.
    THE SHAVE
I used an Omega 10051 to face lather the B&M Seville. The lather was as slick as yesterday and better than the lather I used for my first shave with this razor. This being my second shave with this razor, I was expecting the mildness I experienced the first shave. It is not as aggressive as the DOC, but it is an efficient yet mild razor. The one common characteristic with the two razors is they give great audible feedback when shaving. Another good shave, but I will continue the comparison tomorrow using the DOC. For the next few days, I will switch between razors and give my opinions.

    Finishing January on my feet!

    Razor - Mongoose
    Blade - [IMG](4)
    Brush - BoS Omega 10066
    Soap - Proraso Green
Post - Cold rinse, Alum, Nivea, The Veg

Another day with the Mongoose and Pro blades. Having used this razor as much as I have this month I can honestly say I like it. But, I don't love it. Not sure how to explain it, exactly, but somehow I just don't prefer it necessarily over DE. It may just be because it's SE and, while I like to use a Gem or Schick every now and then, I really do prefer DE shaving. And, with my work with straights over the last several weeks, I really came to appreciate the level of technique required for straights as well as the results that were beginning to show. So, the Goose is indeed a very nice razor. Certainly one of the finest examples of SE, especially modern SE, but not something I can't put down.

Having said that, today's shave was again a great DFS in two passes and touch up and a good way to finish the Mongoose portion of January. Tomorrow I'll give the Rabbit a last use for the month as my hands have settled down now. Then, February and a new month of focus and work. Still deciding my exact course of action.

A huge thanks to @Rufus T. for the loan of the Mongoose. Glad to have had it around for a bit. Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

It's a nice copy of old spice. The scent is not strong, but will linger through the day. It's cheap, going for under $3. To me, at least, it had a somewhat chemical scent when you first put it on. That dissipates quickly. It's not a bad aftershave and will buy it again.

I like the Shp Rite menthol and feel that's a winner.

Thanks Joseph. I agree with you regarding the ASB. I may be able to squeeze out another 5-7 uses before the Cavendish ASB is gone and with so much AS/ASB in my den I cant justify buying another one.

Nice relaxing shave tonight and although MWF produced an amazing lather after I worked at it I have decided I need to spend more time with this soap to dial it in a little better. 2 passes with a little touch up needed on the chin but other then that a smooth sailing DFS. Really enjoying the Fat Handled Tech and the Silvertip felt like a pillow on my face. A healthy splash or two of the Veg and I am ready to relax the rest of the night.

Hope your all having a great day/night and have a great shave!
