My wife just allowed me to buy two more off eBay.... I gave my last one to my son and he just loves it. I decided to get 2 imperial #2 one with an alligator case and the other in just the original box. Both look to be in great shape but I can merger them into an excellent one with a case and extra blase. . BTW last night someone posted a five day razor set on ebay.uk
She's a keeper! Be sure to post some pics when the razors arrive! Looks like the 5-day set only posts to UK. Oh, well... I've already got three Rolls Razors of which one is a three blade travel set. So I mustn't complain!
well boo. I just got my latest rolls... everything looked great until I inspected the stone... cracked during shipping. I told the guy not to ship with the handle attached to the mechanic's handle and to use the side compartment. even provided pictures just to be clear.
If my recollection is correct, somewhere earlier in this thread there are posts about repairing the hone with good excellent results! Perhaps there lies a solution.
yeah i'm looking into that. it is a hair line fracture so it is possible. to top it off the guy selling it told me I was a liar and said I'm making it up. ... preparing picture now. I think we need to start another thread. this one has be too hijacked with other than the original intent.
Hmm, no date stamp could just mean it originally shipped as a replacement/spare blade. Only blades shipped in a Rolls device were apparently dated. I've never heard of a blade having the same engraving on both sides though. Given what you show here, the other side would usually have the "Sheffield Steel" wording. Interesting. Looks like you've got some sanding/polishing ahead of you so you may lose the etching anyway.
Outer cover where patent information should be stamped is blank too. Looks like I've found an original Imperial model. http://www.stropper.com/home/stropp...select2=&select3=&select4=&select5=&select6=0
The link claims the original came with a wedge blade. But yours seems like a hollow ground. Is that just the angle? Of course, the blade could easily have been swapped over time.
All the blades listed there are called "wedge". This has to be a Rolls #10 there's no serial number marking. (where's Greg when you need him?)
Ahh, thanks for the clarification on the wedge issue. Have you got a case for the device or is it just the Rolls itself?
Hey guys, this is my precious, and thanks to "atnbirdie" i was able to restore my both Rolls, what a grate shaving I did buy two, one did came without handle but i did buy for the extra stone
Thanks guys, is very nice set, i love to shave with my rolls razor smooth shave And yes after long hours working on the blades i can now tell that all the blades are ready to shave.
