Okay, people, help me to decide which one to use from the great haul this past weekend. My wife ran across this nice collection in a garage of an estate sale. The fatboy was shave #1 and was AWESOME! Then I had to try the slim. Still very good but not as good as the fatboy. I already have a 40's style Super Speed so I can hold off on that one ... I think. The GEM is out of the question since I don't have a blade. So, Knack, black handle SS, TV Special SS or the other 40's SS, just to compare?
Thus the reason for my quick decisions. My wife is an ebay seller to help fund our boys' college education. All this stuff will hit the auctions soon. I've cleaned, lubricated and disinfected all of them. I'm the designated restoration flunky. :ashamed001 But, I've got the shaving bug. I have to be selective about what I try to talk her into keeping. Anyway, yes, those mugs are cool. Very nice.
Obeyed is by far the usual result, but I've found that Listening upfront appears to be more important to Her.
Go with a Flair!!! I voted for the TV Special since it is a flare-tipped "Regular Super Speed." This will have a slightly different feel, I believe, than the "40s Style" Super Speed you have already. But hey, despite my "name" here, I am no "authority!" :rofl Great stuff you have there, hide it all--quickly !!! --Morrie
Old picture, sorry! The blue box is the earlier (53-54?) Should have had a 40's style in it. The flare tip came in the red box in 1958. A real find with the blue container.
Steve, the box is blue with "TV" embossed on the lid. From everything I have found the only issue of a TV special was 1958. The flair tip 50's style is a D-4, or a 4th quarter 1958, thus would match the case. So, are you saying a blue case 1958 TV special is the rare find?
Or are you saying there was a 1954 TV special that was very rare, because she actually found the Z series (1954) 40's style SS in the case. Because we knew the 1958 50's style was a TV special we thought the case went with it instead.
The one that was in the blue case (54) is correct. Yes it is fairly rare. An unusual and super find! The 54 in the blue case was a very limited release...very!
