Edit: uploaded new photo highlighting where the comet is. It is the large dull light in the middle. OK, this may be hard to see on this photo...I can post a better resolution later if needed. In the center (well just below dead centre) of this image, so to the bottom right of the large star, there is a large greenish blob. That is the comet Catalina that is currently passing through our solar system. I took this over the Christmas holidays with my 35mm. My only other lens is a 55mm but the aperture is too small and I wouldn't have got it in the photo. I'm proud of this one.
That's alright! Used to hunt and fish in that place back in the day! The Colorado river had some nice trout. Great country!
Here is a picture of the Northern Virginia "Blizzard of 2016". I realize this is no biggie for some readers but, for us it is major. None of the area Departments of Transportation have the equipment to manage a storm of this size. Most in the region will be receiving around two feet of snow. Plus the wind is gusting 30MPH plus. It is a difficult, life threatening situation. I am concerned about the elderly. Thoughts and prayers are appreciated.
Great picture, and prayers offered up for those experiencing the brunt of the storm, especially the elderly.
Here you go. It turned out to be only 8 seconds long...sorry. It is made up of 48, 3 second photos. The lights aren't as bright as they could be because I was overlooking my town...regardless, they are still beautiful! This is a quick little video I made tonight of the aurora that was in the sky around 7pm on Feb. 2nd. It is my first attempt at a time lapse, and I didn't realize it would be such a quick video.
