The scent doesn't last long, so aftershave can be used with no problem of scents clashing. It's the moisturizing that makes it decent, plus it is a nice sized bottle that should last a while.

I agree, the Don Marco pairs wonderfully with L'Orange Noir. The 2 citrus scents compliment each other very well.

If different razors and blades and soaps are not making a difference, then I would concentrate on Blade angle and amount of pressure. The amount of pressure being put on the razor can make a big difference in the quality of the shave. Keep experimenting you can do this. I wouldn't give up on DE shaving just yet.

What he just said. I hope you get some better shaves. But I agree with Shave wizard
If you're getting the same results with different razors and blades maybe it's technique. I just hope whatever happens you find a way to get a pleasurable shave.

    February Focus - German blades

    February 3

    Razor - Merkur 23c
    Blade - [IMG](3)
Brush - Wolf Whiskers Custom Silvertip
    Soap - Mitchell's Wool Fat
Post - Cold rinse, Alum, The Veg

Day three on the Timor. The Fat on the Wolf today and I had a bit of trouble with the lather. Unusual for me with MWF but I haven't used the Silvertip with it as much as the boar. Seemed like I didn't get the brush loaded enough and had to go back and add a bit more water and work it some more to get a passable lather. Never did get it as good as BoSFat. But, it was good enough for the shave.

Third day on the Timor and I'm impressed. It took three passes to get a near BBS today so it seems to be losing a bit of effectiveness each day but it's still outperforming a lot of other blades. I have gone through three days without a nick, weeper, cut or any other nonsense. And, the alum, while a bit warmer today on my neck due to the G-slides I did, was still well below what you might expect. I threw on the Veg to start my week selling and raised a toast to the Timor. Fine blade and I feel like I could get a couple more days out of it if I have to. However, it's had its three days in the morning sun and earns another four and a half steins. Overall a great start to German month and I'll be moving to the Elios Inox tomorrow.

One factor I haven't discussed is price. The best price I have seen on a bulk buy of this blade is around $25 to $26 for 50 blades shipped. That works out to around $50 per 100 or 50 cents each. Pricey.....but my honest opinion is they may be worth that, especially if you can get more than three shaves out of them. The experience is just that comfortable.

    Hello folks, here's today's SOTD;

    1948 Gillette Super Speed.
    Vintage carbon steel Schick blade.
    Chinese Badger Hair brush.
    Proraso Blue shaving cream.
    Proraso Blue post shave balm.
    Avon Mesmerize cologne.

I took this Super Speed for a trip around my real estate because I just got it, and just finished cleaning it up. I pick these up when I can find them cheap, to build starter kits with them. I always try to test them out to make sure the razor is in good working condition. I have two more to test out this week. But anyway, this particular razor had a dispenser of Schick Krona Edge blades with it, and I have never tried a carbon steel Schick blade before. Normally, I won't use a blade from a previously opened dispenser, but my curiosity got the best of me. After using this blade, I can honestly say I'm impressed. These blades are great. I think they would rival any modern blade I have used. Absolutely amazing. I rate this shave at a two pass BBS! Here's the photo-

    Razor: Schick Injector G Type
    Blade: Chinese Schick Injector (1)
    Brush: Stirling Kong
    Soap: Tabac
Post: Cold water rinse, Witch Hazel, Fine Platinum

Second shave with the G type was much better than the first. Ended with near BBS and no irritation. No pressure is going to be my key with this light razor as I fought the temptation to add pressure the entire shave.

    Good morning TSD :)

I had a BSS (Body Shop Shave) today:

    0402.jpg

    - Body Shop Maca Root Shave Cream
    - Body Shop Synthetic Brush
    - Canadian Tech with iKon Bulldog handle
    - GSB (#5)
    - Body Shop Maca Root ASB

The Shave cream is really good actually. Easy to lather, nice slickness ... the scent somehow reminds me of Proraso white - quite pleasant. The brush is okay, not as bad as I feared. Soft tips, but pretty firm fibres, so if you want to get it to splay you have to use quite a bit of pressure ... and then it becomes a little scrubby. It is also a little more messy than my other two synthetics - had to wipe down the bathroom mirror after the shave to avoid discussions with the wife later on ;)

The Tech surprised me as well - it is, in my opinion, indeed a little more aggressive than the Red Tip, though not necessarily more effective. Two passes plus touchups for a BBS face and an almost BBS neck. The so-called "razor relief" cream was a pleasant finish for this shave. So far I like the Body Shop stuff.

    Wonderful Winesday
Superb shave today. I applied the PSO before brushing my teeth so it had two minutes to do its thing. My HIS XL masterfully lathered Fireside right over that. Der Futur effortlessly eliminated my stubble without a hint of drama in three passes on 5.5. I finished up with Lavanille Tonique.

    Prep: Van Yulay PSO
    Soap: B&M Fireside
    Brush: HIS
    Razor: der Futur
    Blade: Voskhod (2)
    AS: B&M Lavanille
    EdC: Givenchy Pi Neo
