  1. Razor: Gillette Red Tip C2, 1957
    Blade: Gillette Platinum (1)
    Brush: Fendrihen Silver Tip
    Soap: Route 66 Bourbon Jungle

I've been away on a vacation to Quebec City for a week. My wife and I enjoyed ourselves. Picture tomorrow.
I'm going to focus on the Gillette Red Tip this month. I'll also stay with this blade and brush. Had a great shave today.
  2. I believe so, I have a New I need to look closer at it. Really nice shaver this iKon is.

  3. No shave tonight. Tough day at worked combined with my wife and son being out for the night, and a box of peroni lager means I have time for little else. For you guys over the pond that haven't yet tried peroni.... Treat yourselves at first opportunity

  4. I logged in a bit ago just to see what was going on and to try and get my post for today's shave started. Saw I had some alerts. Well one of them was for being awarded a trophy. I could not figure out what that was for until I realized . . .

    I hit post 1000! :happy036:

:thanks: Thank you to everyone in the 30 Day crew. I have learned so much from this site, and this thread in particular. I am not very active on any online forum other than this one, and so to hit 1000 posts really surprised me. I thoroughly enjoy everything posted in the 30 Day threads, even if it is about a subject well outside my wheelhouse. The knowledge and information presented here really is invaluable to a newbie, and continues being beneficial once you get into traditional shaving. I appreciate all the posts from all of you that I have read since I joined back in July of last year! What really makes this place special is the camaraderie and sense of community. (Cue group hug!) I want to thank everyone for making me feel welcome, answering my questions, making suggestions that have made traditional shaving such a success for me, and of course for the shenanigans!

On the flip side, I am sorry and would like to apologize to all of you since you have had to read the vast majority of my 1000 posts in the 30 Day threads!

  5. Congrats on the 1000, I am the same I never have or never will be on any chat site but I just love this place. Great post
  6. Hope you get to feeling better quickly and are not too sore! As for the wall, I am sorry! I just had to redo drywall in a bathroom and it is a royal PITA!
  7. Thank you!
Yes it is. I'm more upset about that than the bruises

  8. Focus #4 - Feb 5
    New Forest Vase handle

This is a rather early NF brush. He didn't do handles in this shape for long and this is also pre-stickers. I love the silvertip knot here - most excellent.
The handle is a bit uncomfortable for my hand though.
Rating: 7.5/10 due to the, to me, uncomfortable handle shape.

The razor was a razor by new company Evahs here in San Francisco.
I got this razor for $2 after they reached out to me on Instagram but never asked for a "public review" - just for me to tell them what I thought.

They just started selling it on Amazon and if there is any interest I can see if I can get some discount codes for people.

  11. Holy cow, that was some hip check into the boards there MrC. I can tell you've played hockey before. The San Jose Sharks could probably use a good enforcer like you!
    (sorry about the iPhone too)
It could've been worse...a trip down some stairs was how i cracked ribs in November. Time for us oldsters to consider moving into a rancher!

February Focus on my Schick Type D - The first Schick Injector Razor circa 1935

    Shave 3
    Hot Shower
    Razor: Schick Type D
    Blade: Schick (China) (3)
Soap: Figaro Cream (Hungary) compliments of @PLANofMAN at Seattle Shave Convention Sept.'15
Brush: Rubberset Vintage Travel Brush - Synthetic knot by @clint64
    Witch Hazel

    02-05-16.JPG

Back home and back to the Focus using the Schick Type D after road shaves with my travel kit and Schick C1 razor.

Third shave with the D - Angle is so natural, razor so light, hard not to zip around my face with this speedster. But I will learn to stay at the speed limit as I missed a few spots otherwise.

Decided to test some different shave cream for travel variety. Arko and La Toja are fine, but I’ve accumulated some really nice soaps so why not find a way to bring them on the road? So I’ll be testing a few with my synthetic travel brush. The synthetic knot isn’t great in its water-holding capacity, so I choose to work at home to improve technique with it.

    2-day growth, 2-pass shave (XTG,ATG)
A couple of smears on my face with the Figaro and a damp brush to start. Added more water as I went along. Relathered for second pass. Lather/water technique needs more work. But I like the subtle scent and skin feel of the Figaro.

    Cheers!

  16. Is that the earliest production brush in your collection? And nice info on the razor!
  17. Where did you find Figaro cream? I have the AS and love it.
  18. I'm glad you're okay! Had that been me that hole would've been much larger.
