After doing a soap focus for a month, I pulled out a TOBS cream. I still like this stuff. It's slick and lathers well. Today was my third shave with the Mongoose and it's giving me very nice two pass shaves. I did get a couple of weepers on my neck. I think I'm using too much pressure.

    Focus day 6

    Prep: Hot shower
    Blade: Personna lab blue (1)
    Razor: Vintage Gillette travel 3-piece
    Brush: Trader Joe's synthetic
    Lather: TSD soap stick unscented
    Post: Nivea sensitive balm
    WTG, touch-up

A small break in focus since I'm traveling on a short weekend trip. I'm using the TSD soap stick again today. It's perfect for traveling. Went for a little more water on my face and on the soap as I rubbed it around. It was a little too dry yesterday and still a hair dry today. More experimenting needed! The new-to-me vintage Gillette travel razor is a great size for travel and quite convenient. The short handle may take a little time to get used to, but overall was fine. A couple of bucks on my chin, chalked up to first time use with that razor. The Personna blade performed well as usual.

Hope you all have a great Saturday!

Yep. They were still falling out on the bathroom counter the next morning. I'm still pretty sore but improving. Thanks

    Day 6 - repeater focus

Another great shave again today. Not much more to say other than a vintage Schick loaded with a Chick blade will give a perfectly acceptable 2 pass DFS any day of the week, and most likely every day of the week. Day 6 on the same blade and no real signs of dulling. I can usually get 9-10 shaves from a blade.

I originally purchased it from Shave-a-Buck, but my more recent purchase (November 2014) was from a woman in Hungary who was selling the tubes 2 for $9.99 + free shipping. I purchased 6 tubes before she stopped selling them.

There is one eBay seller who has a tube for $4.69 + $4.99 shipping, which is too expensive, in my opinion.

First shave with this razor, which is a bit smaller than the blades I have been using. I was also a bit rushed, so it was not the greatest shave. I would rate it a SAS. Tomorrow, I will get up before everyone and take my time. It does seem the angle is a bit different. Would this be due to a smaller blade?

Thanks for the info! I knew about the defunct Shaveabuck. I assume it's scented in a style similar to the AS?

Another automatic 2 pass with minor touch ups BBS shave this morning. I think this combo and its results will serve as my standard when comparing the AlumiGoose. I have been using Mystic Water shave soaps all week. I find this soap much easier to work with in shave stick form and face lathering. Like many soaps it is a thirsty soap but care must be taken to add water slowly. As you get the right water/soap ratio, I have found changing to paint brush strokes really improves the lather. Following the above routine, I ended up with a fantastic long lasting slick lather. Mystic Water is most certainly in my top tier of shave soaps I have used and one of the few that I will purchase again. Finished off with a splash of Fine Platinum. I hope everyone has a great Saturday.

Yes and no. The shave cream doesn't have menthol in it. But the scents are compatible. The AS is a bit brighter, fresher smelling. The shave cream is more earthy, ferny smelling. It is a pure Fougère scent.

Outstanding shave today, and very close to a BBS, okay BBS. The Red Tip is an amazing razor. the Gillette Platinum is one of my favourite blades. The Soap is out of this world (Top Drawer).

I hope the cut on your head is healing well. Have a good weekend.
