I forgot to mention this the other day..You said the spring was loose and the head was rattly and you had to bend the head or something..Thats not right so its not..I would need injector lessons as well shaving with that..Its defective & not unusual because sellers knacker them attempting to get the blades out..:p

I should have mentioned that before but I forgot..Goin Senile..:happy097:

Me too the case was knackered so no value there the razor could probably have been OK but not for 200 buckskins.

February Focus on my Schick Type D - The first Schick Injector Razor circa 1935

    Razor: Schick Type D
    Blade: Schick Plus Platinum (1 & 2)
    Soap: Saponificio Varesino 70th Anniversary
    Brush: Rubberset 400-4
    Witch Hazel: Thayers
    AS: Saponificio Varesino 70th Anniversary

Shifted to a new blade type after 4 excellent shaves with the Schick (China) blade.

    2-day growth, 2-pass shave (XTG,ATG)
Monday's shave was a good one-pass shave, but this morning I noticed a bit more stubble and went to a 2-pass. I really worked at deliberate, smooth and focused strokes. Great results - real good reduction on first pass and very close second with hardly any second strokes and no irritation.

Also, a great combo of soap and brush using a puck rub on the face and a face lather with a well-dampened brush providing a very thick, slick lather.

On the road again today and a travel shave tomorrow.

    Cheers!

    Toms V 2 Injector..:p
    [IMG]
    Three Pass Shaving Routine..

Hot Water prep & massage with Coconut Oil
    Toms V 2 Adjustable Injector
    Chinese Schick Injector Blade New
    Mason Pearson Pure Badger
    Haslinger Tallow Soap
    Thayers Original Witch Hazel

I had another shave today with Toms V 2 Injector..I loaded the V 2 Injector with a Chinese Schick blade..I utilized the MILD Comb for a 3 pass shaving routine..I had a bit of a mishap the last time I used the MILD Comb because I damaged a blade & got some razor burn..I was chopping & changing blades for testing purpose's & damaged one..Its so easily done..If you ever get a rough shave with an Injector always change the blade as the first port of call..Thats where the problem usually lays..Its so easy to over look that..Toms V2 in my humble opinion is just as Smooth as the Coveted Schick Type D & maybe then some..The Schick Type D was probably the smoothest Injector ever made..The V 2 just glides on the MILD Setting with very little Audible Feedback..Like Casper the Ghost..You have to feel the Whiskers being Cut..This is a Feeling Mans razor without a Doubt..I will mention this again for folks on the Pass around..The V2 Injector is more Intuitive to use on the Mild Setting..Its easier to find the Sweet Spot..:)

I had one day of whiskers to cut down & went for the Money Button BBS Dolphin Smooth Shave..To me this is Ultimate Test of the Efficiency of a Razor & Blade Combo..Its not easy to get a BBS irritation free shave when one has shaved the day before..After my first WTG Pass most of my whiskers had been Destroyed even on the MILD Setting..Its as efficient on the Mild Setting as something like a Schick Hydro for me anyway..I would reckon the NOTSO Comb is sitting around the performance of an Early Schick Type E2 & the WILD Comb is way up there with a Cranked up Pal Adjustable for Sure..The user has a Wide Variety of Settings here to choose from depending on Mood, Needs & Individual Taste..There are is Marked difference between the 3 Combs on the V2 Injector..I am of the humble opinion that Tom has Staged these out perfectly to get the Maximum out of the V 2 Injector on each & every one of these Settings..Everyone will find their favourite setting or settings on this razor..The V2 is very adaptable to both various Single & Twin blades on various settings..I would suggest that the Chinese Schick blade in Toms V2 Injector is a Match made in Heaven though & should be the Go blade for the Pass Around Folks in the early days at least..:D

After my 2nd ATG Pass I more or less went for a touch up pass with some speed to see what I could get away with..I ended up with an Almost Perfect All Over Dolphin Smooth BBS Result without a Hint of any Irritation..MILD Comb or Not..I found the V2 to be very Efficient on this Setting..I got one Little Cut on My Chin for my Almost Reckless Abandon..Cant be Bad at that..In my experience a Schick Hydro would have been far less forgiving with that Sorta Reckless Abandon..I have Sorta expounded all I have to expound about Toms V 2 Injector..It performs very well on all its various settings & is a very forgiving razor to boot..I have only one other thing to say..I would suggest that when the fortunate Folks on the Pass get their hands on Toms V2 Injector that they get the Home Made Idea out of their head & View it as it Truly is..;)

The term Artisan gets thrown around these days like Confetti to a point where it has just became a Selling point..The word Artisan was a Coveted Term for People that took pride in making something the traditional small family way & using traditional hand made methods...Toms Injector is s True Artisan product using traditional hand made methods with the best of modern materials ..Its not a Home made Injector..Tom has kindly said that I can keep the V2 Injector & add to my Collection..If I had to make a choice to keep only one razor for whatever reason it would be Toms V2 injector for every day of the week & every Sunday..I hope others enjoy Toms Injector as much as I Do..:)

Next stop on the G series - the G4. I really like how my G4 looks and wanted to experiment with a different blade in the hopes it would stand out even more. After a short consultation with the Blade Master ( :chores016: ) about NOS Kronas I loaded one up for today's shave. As a side note, I had two days of growth to put the G4/Schick Kronas combo to the test. My first impression was an appreciation for the smoothness of the Krona. It is a different feel. The feel of the blade is obvious but not at all unpleasant. I liked it. :happy088:

First pass reduction, however, was less than impressive. I'd say it barely registered a rating of, "OK." Second pass reduction was better - a solid, "OK." Third pass was still OK but after some extended wet touch-ups I decided I really needed a fourth pass. There was still plenty of good lather in the brush so I went for it. I very rarely take four passes so this is a clear comment on the sharpness of the blade. It just didn't seem as capable of mowing down the thicker stubble of a multi-day beard as a Personna for example. On the other hand, I only had a couple of very tiny weepers at the corner of my lips that are hard to avoid after 4 passes and wet touch ups.

Conclusion? I like the feel of the Krona but I think it is best to pair it with a more aggressive razor - or use it with less growth. At some point I want to try the G4/Krona combo after a single day's growth to see how it performs. I'm also thinking I'll try it out on the Bunny V3 Wild comb when that opportunity arises. :happy036:

Edit: I wonder if this was possibly a dud blade? Since I haven't used the Kronas before I don't have a point of reference re: their sharpness. I may try it again when I get to the G6.

February Focus with my Schick Type D - The first Schick Injector Razor circa 1935

On the road, so shaving with my travel kit including my Schick C1. Back home and to focus on the Type D tomorrow.

    Razor: Schick Type C1
Blade: NOS Personna 74* (USA) (3)
    Soap: Figaro cream (Hungary)
Brush: Rubberset Travel Brush (with synthetic knot)

    ImageUploadedByTapatalk1455128999.353768.jpg

A great shave with my Schick Type D on Tuesday set me up for a one-pass (ATG) shave today. Excellent shave. Four hours later, the soap has left me with a fabulous face feel.

As reviewed last month, this blade is very sharp, there's no rushing the shave with this one. It also seems to demand a well hydrated and lubricated face. So I changed up my soap strategy by trying some creams on the road. (Thanks for the tip @clint64)

Got a few generic lip gloss containers (5 for about 4$ down by the bay) which I can fill with some favorite and different creams. The lip gloss insert into the tube makes for efficient spreading of the right amount of cream directly along my jawline to face lather.

    Cheers!

:happy096: That last paragraph nails it Billy!

Artisan, Craftsman...they each describe what we have here, especially based on your first class review Billy. Knowing Tom the way we have come to, it's clear he has a love for this sort of thing...though based on what I see on his thread and your reviews, he can probably go into some type of boutique production for profit. But I have a clear sense that is not why he began this journey.

I take much pleasure in seeing examples of people who are great do-it-yourself types, but for me, this project goes way beyond that and the pleasure turns to awe in witnessing such skilled craftmanship.

Congrats Tom, not just for doing this, but for following your talents as far as they take you!

    Thanks Tom.
My Christmas acquisition to replace my small, disintegrating kit, since I also needed a somewhat larger one to pack my newfound shaving gear. I found it on the bay for a steal. It was NOS, vintage British stuff. The clincher came when I opened it and found an NOS vintage travel DE razor, which to me appears to be a travel version of the British Gillette Rocket as it also came with the Gillette blades of that era.
