  1. Big change.
  2. I've had it for for few months and I like it a lot. Good deal also.:happy088:
  3. well, that sounds good. I'm not a clove man.
  4. Looks like my focus will be ending early as I can happily say I have learned/accomplished what I set out to achieve 11 days ago. I can now lather the Fat like there is no tomorrow and I can achieve a effortless BBS shave from my fat handled tech while blindfolded, handcuffed, and doing the Macarena.

I want to thank all of those who gave tips and opinions that helped me dial these tools in. I will still be continuing my 30 days of Veg as a reward to myself :)
  5. Good stuff! :happy005::happy088:

  8. No shave for me today. I certainly don't have an excuse like @Norcalnewb! Just call it being lazy.

Tomorrow's shave will look like this in case I don't get a chance to post since it looks like a very busy day.

  9. February Focus - German blades

    February 11

    Razor - Merkur 23c
    Blade - [IMG] (2)
Brush - Wolf Whiskers Custom Silvertip
    Soap - Arko Stick
Post - Cold rinse, Alum, The Veg

Second day on the Bolzano. I was a bit less than impressed with this blade than I thought I would be yesterday though it didn't do bad. Just not quite as good as I expected from the reviews and love it receives from some. Still, 4.5 steins is nothing to sneeze at. Besides, sneezing at full steins just blows foam all over everyone. Speaking of foam, the Arko and Wolf Whiskers produced a fine lather this morning. I don't know why I stopped using Arko for awhile. The performance of the lather is second to none.

Grabbed the Merkur 23c and started the first pass. Already I'm liking what I feel. I suggested yesterday that perhaps this blade is a slow starter, needing that first shave to get set. Boy was I right. Smooth, much smoother than yesterday even and quiet. Just an awesome WTG pass. Very effective. Second XTG and it was again absolutely marvelous feeling. And I finished just shy of BBS. Went ATG and G-Slide but didn't really need to do a complete third pass to cover the necessary areas. Just did it for the practice and to shave a bit longer and the baby showed up big time. Absolutely a great shave. Now I see what the fuss is about. Held up to the Wilkinson like a champ. Absolutely a five stein performance and I can't wait to see what it does tomorrow.

Hope you all are getting ready to have some fun over the holiday weekend. I'm gearing up to sell! My weekend gets delayed until Tuesday this week. The next four days should be fun!

  10. Day 42 - 90 Day Intro to SR
    11 February 2016

    Ralf Aust 5/8
    L'Occitane Plisson Synthetic
    Route 66 - Lumberjack
    Alum
    TSD ISZ AS under Brut

This is gonna be my last shave on the prairie for about a week... And a good shave it was. Went down pretty much like yesterday, the Aust mowed it down on two for the usual DFS deal. Decided that R66 Lumberjack has a bit of a Brut-ish quality to it, so the pairing was natural and went well. Alum felt quite nice again today, and if I had an official AS, ISZ would be the standard bearer for skinfeel and performance.

So, I am off to AL, TN, and KY for a week. I will be delivering @Jayaruh 22 (synthetic knot) to my Father to match with his 63 Slim. Saturday is my Mother's birthday, then I will roll through TN to Murray, KY to see my dearest friend George. I may be sporadic with regard to posting, but my FEB focus will continue. I am packing the @Drygulch Black "45", the WD 5/8 straight (gift from my Dad) and the Charlie Danger Fatboy, in honor of our man on the scene in East KY, @wristwatchb. La Toja will be the soap. Osage and Clubman AS, and remember... you never wanna get nuts while traveling, so that kit ought to do it, I will try to catch up on the thread a bit tonight, and will try to respond to everything each day as time permits. May everyone have a great weekend filled with sweet shaves and pleasant things!

  14. Feb 12 Focus Shave 8

Today's razor is a Wade and Butcher touched up on a Shapton 16k followed by Dovo red/black paste.

The razor felt very smooth today but not so sharp. 4 passes and 1 small cut due to operator error during the 3rd pass. Given the smooth feel I really pressed it for a BBS but just missed it. The alum test gave just a little feedback. Sorry for the lousy pic.

  16. I have a couple of small Becker travel / brush scuttles on the way. I've had some close calls with the one I currently use, so these will be backups.

I also snagged a discounted "Dave's Deals" Saddleback Leather water bag in Chestnut yesterday. I've been eyeballing these for awhile. I got the medium, as it will be my carry-on bag.

Everyone in NB 16 should greatly enjoy buying vicariously through me. Back to normal programming. :)

    AlumiGoose with Triad SS
    Feather Pro (5)
Rubberset 400 with Omega 49 Boar
    Jabonman Citricos
    Witch Hazel
    Folsom & Co Shambala
    Whipped Shea Butter

This morning was a really nice shave. Starting with the Jabonman Citricos soap that @Drygulch was kind enough to send my way. Lathering with the big boar was super easy and the scent was intoxicating. It has a citrus base with other notes that blend into a long lasting well rounded scent. The AlumiGoose delivered a near BBS 2 pass shave this morning. My time limit goal for a week day shave is around 10 minutes from start to everything cleaned and put away. This set up allows me to achieve that goal with ease. Finished off with a splash of F&C Shambala. Happy Friday everyone.
  19. 30 Day Focus February 12, 2016

    Noxema Preshave
Gillette Heavy Tech / Gillette 7 o'clock Sharp Edge
    Omega / Proraso Blue
WH / Shea butter / Proraso Blue ASB

This is day 6 with the mellow yellow 7'o'clock blade. Enjoying this very much. This could be a contender for the King of the Castle blade choice. Will it upset the reigning King Astra SP...only time will tell. On Day 6 the blade has retained its sharpness and is now very smooth. A pleasure to use. The Proraso Blue is also a pleasure...great cream and ASB. TGIF! :chores016:

  20. Those bags are great. I want one for my tools as my shoulder strap snapped. Not sure how practical it would be for tools but it does look cool
