IMHO the Gillette Red Tip is one of the best razors Gillette ever made. Thanks for your kind thoughts. :happy088:

I tried face lathering again, haven't done that in a bit, got a fantastic lather the first pass. It was just a little thin on the third pass/touch up. I just need to go back to the soap, I think. Lady friend loves Dragon's Blood scent, making her some dinner this evening. She really digs the BBS shaves. Hope everyone has a great Valentine's day!

ATG, XTG -> near BBS. I enjoyed some warm TSD lather using my Kent silvertip badger brush and my Becker brush scuttle. It was a fantastic way to begin this special day with my Bride. Sixteen years ago this month she was declared cancer-free, and I thank God for her faith, health, love, and companionship. Valentine's Day doesn't get any better than that.

    Happy Valentine's Day!

Phenomenal. I was a bit leary going into this shave with a new razor that I wanted to give a fair trial run, I hadn't shaved in maybe a week and my beard was getting thick. My wife even asked me if I was growing a beard. :happy068: Normally I'd use my iKon B1 Standard for a shave as such but I wanted to put the Blackland Blackbird to test.
The first thing I noticed was how well the blade sat on the cap, no movement at all. I went with the 101mm handle and I love it! I had no problems finding the proper cutting angle as it was a natural feel. I did after my second pass take the razor apart to clean the hair off the blade, that's how long my beard was :( the razor did not clog or need to be disassembled I wanted to clean the blade. Can you say OCD... 3 pass shave. I don't like using BBS very often, I feel its overplayed. Today's shave was BBS. I could not have asked for a better piece of shaving hardware to use. @ShaneS you nailed it! @Troy M you sold me! The BB is phenomenal! I can't wait to shave tomorrow.
I really needed this shave today, you'd be surprised what it did for my ailing injury.
I also shaved my head, first pass was with the BB, and finished with my Gillette Atra.

Great write up Kerry. It is amazing what a good shower and shave do for your mental health when you're feeling bad. Hope you get some relief soon.

Thanks, Clint! Yeah it's amazing what getting groomed will do. ;) What's even more alarming is that my beard is now all white. Can't have that. My wife turns 50 in 8 days and still gets carded for booze. :(

The only time I get carded anymore is when my wife gets carded. They kind of feel sorry for me and throw me a sympathy request for my ID. It is fairly common for her to get asked.

Every time I go a few days without shaving, I notice more whites in there. This morning, I think the whites definitely out numbered the darks.

Glad to hear you are on the mend!

    Shave Den Sunday!

    Prep: Warm shower
    Blade: Personna lab blue (2)
Razor: Vintage Gillette Slim (on pass-around from @youngunn)
    Brush: Trader Joe's synthetic
    Lather: TSD Bay Rum lanolin
Post: Witch hazel splash, TSD Iced Bay Rum, Nivea sensitive balm
    WTG, XTG, touch-up

A continued break in focus in order to shave with the loaned Slim again. Nice shave again today. I really like that razor. The Personna blade worked well again as expected. My synthetic brush from the Trader Joe's kit whipped up enormous amounts of lather from the TSD Bay Rum soap. That soap is truly top-notch. It has beautiful lather, great scent, and the post-shave feel is the best of any soap I've used. I can't say enough good things about TSD soap.

The TSD Iced Bay Rum went on nice and cold and I finished with Nivea balm. This was a great shave in the end.

I'll be back in focus probably on Wednesday when I begin using the open comb head on the Maggard MR1 razor. I hope to use the Slim for Monday and Tuesday's shaves before sending it on.

I wish you all a great rest of your Valentine's Day!

Sounds great what do you find witch hazel adds to the post treatment? My mum has bottles of the stuff I'm thinking of getting some.
