What Straight Razor Did You Use Today?

A stubby tail. Must be pretty old, Mike. Is this a near wedge?

 

It is indeed a near wedge. I'm guessing it's been slightly reground at some point in it's life.

 

I am using your pyramid 8K and 12k and 40 laps on the 20K SG on 9 straights tonight.

 

The pyramid is a helpful nugget from the SRP Library. It works for me!

Hello brotherhood of the straight razor. Sorry no pics, but my "Straight of the Day" process was:

- H.M. Christianson 5/8th" (Costa & Sons 'Hardware' Store razor)
- L'Occitane handle with TGN pure bristle installed
- RR XXX Shave Soap
- Thayer's Aloe & Cucumber Witch Hazel
- Proraso Sensitive ASB
- Superior 70 Bay Rum

 

When the task is complete we'll need a report!

CT Bingham Fenney Tally Ho- arrived yesterday but not shave ready so I finished with the Erusta bohler stahl

Was in a hurry today. One pass CCS. That means I can shave again tomorrow.

 

The task is complete except for the shave test.

 

A new razor in the house. My favourite SR so far is my Portland Razor Co. Western grind kamisori. Last October I order a custom 7/8 Damascus round point from PRC. They are good about communication but it takes time. After a wait they contacted me and told me that the razor they made for me was 6/8 and did I want to the razor or should they restart the process and make a 7/8. I decided to wait and have they start again and make a 7/8 razor. They were very cooperative during the process.

Yesterday I came home and found the package from PRC. I knew it was coming but it takes time to make the journey across the Pacific. I am thrilled with both the look and the shave.

Shave 50!!

After fifty shaves with a straight, I am at the point where a comfortable DFS is automatic. Thanks especially to those who gather and post to this forum. The info I have gathered here made this far easier than I ever thought it might be!
