Great pic and post. I'm new to MWF and thinks it's incredible. Don't take to much away from yourself your skills and technique will have vastly improved. You have been using the focus correctly and now you're seeing the rewards. Very happy for you.

Superb pic Doug. I'm a fan of uniformity, that's a great selection.

    Focus: NF Brush #10 - Feb 19
New Forest in Faux Briar Wood handle

So I'm up to my tenth New Forest brush this month...this focus may have to continue into March :)

First time I'm using this particular brush - and it turned out to be fantastic.
Love everything about this one - the color/resin, shape/size and the soft 2-band knot provided that combination of soft-tips and backbone that I have come to love in the NF brushes.

    I'd rate this a solid 9/10.

I also used a Gillette Twinjector (w/ Schick Twinblades) that gave a very mild but in the end a very clean shave.

4711 is indeed a very fresh, lemony scent with little-to-no complexity to it but for some reason I've really taken to it. I do wish it would last for longer than twenty minutes though.

A good shave was had. It's 11:36am here in San Francisco and have had coffee and my only meeting of the day so I'm ready for the weekend to begin :D

Have a good and safe one everyone!

I'm at a Wi-Fi hotspot now so I'm going to say what I will shave with this evening.

    El Cheapo ebay shavette
    Feather DE blade half (1)
    Semogue 1438
    Proraso blue cream/Hydra superlather
    Axe shield balm

I'm going to try a different dirrection stroke to try to get ATG on and below my jawline. since I am stopped by this because of the length of the straight razor blade I will try it with the shavette and its short blade. If you don't hear from me by midnight tonight send an ambulance. I know some of you have my address from PIFs and the like. I'm going to take it slow with Alum and Superglue at the ready in case of accidents.

Whats the worst that could happen?

Lovely brush. I very nearly ordered 4711 two days ago, but opted for Fine platinum. I didn't realise it was lemony that might have swung my decision.

Today I finally finished painting the nursery for my almost three month old daughter. Better late than never. Had to rush my shave so I did a N/S single pass. Used what is hands down my favorite razor. Love American steel. Focused on blade angle and no pressure. Single pass CCS, and a better shave than I used to get with my cartridges. Dame de Noche is a great scent. Finished off with some wax in the stache and twisted it up. Good shave.

Thanks Jim! I hope you have a great weekend! I wish I still remembered all that stuff I learned in college. :)

What type of engineering? I forgot more than I learned in school.

Jim, I'm a chemical engineer. I have been blessed with a wonderful job at the same company for nearly 32 years. The people are hardworking and dedicated, and I consider them to be part of my family. I'm currently working as a manufacturing quality manager. I haven't really used my engineering skills much in the past few years, and I've also forgotten more than I learned in school.

What was your field of study? I recall that you work in a refinery.

Cool watch! You don't often see a wristwatch with the crown and date window on the left hand side.

My wife is the chemical engineer in our family, although she has chosen to stay home since we have had kids. I am am EE, and am the electrical manager at the refinery, but spent a three years working in the turnaround group, so I don't use engineering too often anymore.
