Just got the Nivea shave cream in last night. First time use produced a lot of lather with just a finger tip full. Not quit as slick as I thought it would be, but if you keep your razor wet it works pretty good. Left my skin feeling clean without any residue. Slapped on some Clubmans and Nivea balm and I was good to go. Gave me a nice shave! I will have to work at the cream and water ratio.
That looks very much like a Simpson's Best badger knot. (Except for the whole two band thing). How much did that cost you, and what is the knot size on that?
It isn't often (like 'never' ) that I come across a vintage frameback razor with a blade this large. The majority are in the 5/8" range with some creeping towards 6/8. This smiley blade is a hair under 1.0" in width. Circa 1860-1875). This one should clean up nicely (removal of some of the black rust and gunk)…
It looks more like a 2 band in this pic. Its listed as 25 x 50 Superfine 2 band DB was real close in his guess....
Just won an auction on this beauty: Well, the blurriness makes it a leap of faith, but it looks like an early G1 Schick Injector. I got it for a good price and I'm excited for my first injector. I really like the translucent handle, and I'm optimistic that it looks like I think it does and will clean up nicely. EDIT, 2/24: The razor and the Chinese Schicks I ordered should both be here by the end of this week! EDIT 2/25: USPS says it's in my mailbox. Aaaaahhh!
Got these coming in. Things that I just needed to add. Finally getting an 830. Just haven't gotten around to it. I'm pretty excited.
I don't shop Ebay. But I did. While trolling for a Rubberset 400, I came up on an open comb three piece. I won the sale, but I'm still unsure just what I will be receiving. It was listed as,"VINTAGE BOSTOM SAFETY RAZOR COMBING BRUSH". I'm ok with the seller not knowing what it is, but a weeks worth of searching and the only bid being my buck ninety nine... The base plate looks like a RazoRock Jaws open comb. The handle has some green glow in the dark Chernobyl colored corrosion. The only markings I can clearly read from the sellers photos look like "N R K". Isn't that what North Korea is calling it's self these days? If anyone has any clues, I'd appreciate a hint. I'll check the pawn shops for a Geiger counter while I await delivery.
For me it looks like an Gillette Fat Handle Tech with an Open Comb...but i'm not 100% sure...maybe a few of us have more knowledge here...
