Although the Astra blade is ready for retirement it still gave me one last hoorah with a very close, smooth, and comfortable shave. The One X soap from Razorock not only produced lather porn for me - the scent blows me away. The matching aftershave has that same wonderful scent along with some menthol cooling. Not a face-freezer, but still really enjoyable. :happy088: :happy088:

Hello TSD - no picture today, sorry. Had to rush to work

    My sunday shave:
    - Jeeves of Hudson Street "Eucalyptus & Spearmint"
    - The Grosvenor "Finest"
    - Rockwell 6S
    - Polsilver Super Iridium
    - Tüff sensitiv Rasierwasser

Incredible soap. Hands down the best I own. Easy to lather, slick and creamy, fantastic scent. There are a few soaps which contain Lanolin that are slightly better post-shave, but in total this Jeeves soap is fantastic.

The Polsilver blade gave me a much smoother (and closer) shave than the Rockwell blade yesterday. Two passes, pretty much BBS. I'm alternating between the 3, 4 and 5 plate at the moment to figure out which one is the best for everyday use.

    Have a great sunday!

Lather: ATT Razorock Orange Blossom & Jasmine
    Brush: TGN synthetic
    Razor: Blackland Blackbird
Blade: Persona Lab blue (1) - emergency replacement blade!
    Post: Avon Spicy

I started out the shave with a Bolzano Suprinox blade but after less than 4 strokes down my cheek and neck I replaced it. The tugging and pain were horrible. I finished up with a Persona and had a good shave. I ended up with 4 or 5 weepers on my neck where I passed the Bolzano across. This was my first use with the RazoRock soap and I am not that impressed with it. Might be that it is quite thirsty and I didn't work it long enough to get slick and shiny. May be a candidate for a PIF soon.

If I recall correct, @HolyRollah added quite a bit without the lime coming through. Maybe it's just the limes nature. I dunno.

Give your Astra blade a number, and hang it up in the "rafters" of your bathroom :)

    February Focus - German blades

    February 21

    Razor - Schick Krona
    Blade - [IMG](3)
Brush - Wolf Whiskers Custom Silvertip
    Soap - Arko stick
Post - Cold rinse, Alum, Clubman

Final day of my trip through Germany. Seven blades in 21 days and it all ends with the Schick Premium in the Krona. I went to the Wolf and Arko face lathered for a great lather to finish with and went to work. The Schick combo has worked very well over the past two days producing two find DFS shaves with no irritation or drag or any other problems. Hoping the final day works as well.

First pass WTG was just as smooth as day one. Very nice feel as always and I felt like the result was a bit better than yesterday. Went XTG for the second pass and hit a nice DFS. Nice! Not quite as good as the three passes I've been doing but I could easily stop here and be totally happy. However, it's the last day on the blade and I've done three passes so far with it. So, third pass on the way, ATG and G-slide. Really nice feel and after the slide and one minor touch up with a bit of buffing.....there it is...the elusive BBS with this blade. Awesome finish! Now, did I irritate things too much? Alum is on and.......quiet as a sleeping baby. There it is....the perfect five stein rating for this blade on its last day!
    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]
Now, to name a champion. Best in class as it were. Clearly the Elios, Merkur and Croma aren't in the running for the Grand Stein award. That leaves the Timor, Wilkinson, Bolzano and Schick. The Schick, while excellent, took a bit of extra time to reach BBS. Although it was exceptionally smooth. The Timor.....great BBS and overall great feel and again, very smooth. The Bolzano......the first day was a bit disappointing but days two and three rocked it out. The Wilkinson Sword.....BBS city and smooth and seemingly ready for more shaves.

While all four of the finalists were and are great blades, I think the winner, based on overall feel, results, and consistency has to be.................

    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

and it is hereby awarded the "Stein of Excellence" award!!

The remaining eight days of February will be a "best in country" shave, featuring the best blades by country in my collection (so far). So, I'll be using the Bic Chrome Platinum (Greece), the Super Max Super Platinum (India), the Feather (Japan) and, of course, Voskhod (Russia). Two days per blade and it will be off to March and a new challenge!
