Looks like a nice G1. If it has two patent numbers on the underside of the head it is.

You might also try a Personna blade to see how it changes your shave. Definitely a YMMV thing. :happy088:

The Made in Canada stamp makes it an E as @Billyfergie says. Best guess is an E4. :D But take Billy's word over mine.

Edit: I see he got here before me. :chores016:

Right on. It looks like it will clean up well. I purchased an Aluminum tech from the same lady and she didn't know exactly what it was either so I don't blame her for not knowing for sure. Thanks for the info everyone

    This morning's (Saturday) shave:

    Rapide Razor w/Rapide wedge blade
    Plisson synthetic brush
    Valobra Fougere hard shaving soap
    Alpa Fougere aftershave/cologne

I'm European today: Razor & blade from Germany, brush from France, soap from Italy, and AS/cologne from the Czech Republic.

The Rapide is a fascinating razor and is vying with the C. V. Heljestrand in being my favorite razor of this type. I stayed up late last night honing the blade, and was rewarded this morning with a very close shave that was completely free of irritation. :happy088:

Razor: Canadian Schick Injector E Type
Blade: Personna Electron microscopy Sciences (EMS) supplied blade (1)
    Brush: Stirling Kong
    Soap: Stirling Gatlinburg
Post: Cold water rinse, Witch Hazel, Fine Platinum
    [IMG]

I shaved Friday with the E type and the Chinese Schick blade for the seventh time with that blade. Ended with another near BBS two pass plus touch up shave. Decided instead of starting the J type I would switch over to the Personna blade for a few shaves to compare.

So Saturday's shave was the first with the Personna blades from EMS. They are Stainless Steel "PTFE" Coated 0.010" thick, packed 20 blades in a dispenser. After shipping they were about $11.50 so a little cheaper than the Chinese Schick's per blade. Buying in a greater quantity would also prove much cheaper per blade but I just wanted the one dispenser to see if they would be as effective as the Chicks. If so they are a great deal. If not then not much lost on trying.

The shave started OK but was not quite as smooth. The blade seemed every bit as sharp as the Chicks but just a little rougher on the edge. Finished the first pass. Good reduction. No bad irritation and no blood.
Second pass was basically the same. It was a little rougher and there was slight irritation but nothing terrible. Some touch up necessary along jaw line and at the Adam's apple but it cleaned up nicely. A touch more irritation than usual but still a near BBS shave. Will be interesting to see how the blade progresses and whether it gets smoother after a shave or two.

    Three Pass Shaving Routine..

Hot Water prep & massage with Coconut Oil
    Ever Ready 1912
    Star Cru Steel Blade NOS
    Mason Pearson Pure Badger
    LEA Tallow soap
    Thayers Original Witch Hazel

I just had the most Wonderful Shave of my Life with My Ever Ready 1912 with an Original Cru Steel Stropping Blade Today..A Dolphin Smooth All Over BBS Result was achieved as Easy as Wiping My Darn Nose with Tissue Paper..:angelic007:

I spent my time last evening Stropping 3 of these NOS Cru Steel blades..I Stropped them for around 80 laps a Side..Although NOS these Cru blades deteriorate with time..These blades are around 100 Yrs' Old..You can also bring them back with some Chromium Oxide & a piece of flat balsa wood which is cheap as chips..I have heard many a Folks saying that they have tried these blades & they Tug & are not usable..Well..Thats because they are not shave ready & No other Reason..These Cru Steel Blades are far more sharp than a Current Gem Blade when correctly sharpened & far smoother by a Long Shot..:p

These Cru Steel Stropping Blades are worth a 100 Current Gem Blades..One of these with Daily Stropping should last 3 to 6 months & after that can be brought back by a little honing with some Chromium Oxide..By the Way..A Monkey can Do this..You Don't need to be a an Expert..I sure Aint..Its So Darned Easy..All that is required is the Patience..Thats it in a Nut Shell..:)

As you can see in the First Pic the 1912 Cru Blade Combo Knocked Down Two Days of Whiskers in one WTG Pass..I achieved an almost all over BBS Result on my 2nd ATG Pass & my 3rd Pass was more of a Touch Up Job..These Blades are just so Darn Comfortable & Smooth as Icing on a Cake..A Current Gem Blade Just isn't Fit to Lick their Boots..I hear folks talkin about Traditional Wet Shaving this & That & Knocking Modern Cartridge Systems as if its not Real Wet Shaving..If we follow that line of thought through to its Logical Conclusion then Everybody that is Shaving with a 1912 with a Current Gem Blade is about the same thing as shaving with a Cartridge head on a DE Handle..:D

I don't follow that line of thought I have to say..I have went on about this many times..A Current Gem Blade is not Harsh..Its the Current Gem Blade & Older 1912 Comb geometry that is All Wrong..These Older SE s were designed to take these Older Stropping Blades with a Thicker Spine..The blade is far more Rigid as Well and of course hasn't a Mult Faceted Factory Made Cutting Edge..You can Replicate the correct angle with Shimming..See this thread of Mine..;)

This works well..But if you want the Best from your 1912 then the Original Cru Blade is the Way to Go with the Traditional Stropping Methods..This is not a YMMV thing..This is the Traditional Way..The 1912 is One Almighty Shaver when its used the Traditional Way as it was Intended..You are only Sniffing the Full Potential with a 1912 using a Current Gem Blade..It only requires 30 Laps a Side on a Strop after your shave & its ready to Go..As I mentioned above a Monkey can Do this..Its So Easy to getting into shaving with a 1912 the Traditional Way..:kar:

In anticipation of receiving the Bunny pass around I wanted to get a benchmark shave in with one of the best razors in the den - my PAL Adjustable. One thing that stands out about the PAL Adjustable is how smooth it is. Many find it hard to find the angle but once you do it is like sliding down a hill on a toboggan in winter. It's that simple and smooth. And you can't argue with the result. All around smooth, smooth, smooth. :happy036:
