Started wet shaving in March of 2012. I suffered for years from shaving with a 4 blade razor. I assumed that my skin was just sensitive to shaving so I would go weeks, sometimes, without shaving. I was one of those people who figured that new = better and an old razor would do more damage than good. Surely with all the "science" that goes into those new cartridge type razors they should give you the best shave possible.
One day I had enough. I had countless ingrown hairs and horrible razor burn. I began looking online for ways to help my sensitive skin. Some sites said that if you are having problems with cartridge razors try an electric razor. And I was soooo close to buying one until I came across a post on this site taking about a "DE Razor". What the hell is a DE razor?!?! I read numerous posts from this site and others and people who had the same problems as me seemed to have great success with a DE razor. I forked out the money and bought myself a decent DE razor and am not looking back. I've been tinkering with different creams, soaps, blades, etc and my technique is obviously no where near perfect yet, but I really am starting to notice a difference with my skin.

Thank god I didn't settle on an electric razor.
