1. This will be a very short thread.

    80% Oland [Aramis] +
    20% Excalibur [E.L.] =

something very, very nice, identifiable as both to those who know Avons but possibly better than either. It was an accident but a happy one.

Now I'm wondering about Tai Winds + British Sterling. Anybody got a sample of TW you can part with? Haven't had or seen any in years.
  2. Unfortunately Tai Winds reminds me too much of Brut (bad scent memories with that) and I gave it all away. Had almost a quart at the time.

  3. I enjoy mixing Wild Country with Pinaud Citrus Musk 50/50 ..... makes a nice clean citrusy powder scent.

  4. But how does it taste? :eatdrink013:

  8. Well, to his credit, he did say, "scent", where I have seen others use the word "flavor" to describe an aroma.
  9. And what would be a proper garnish?
  10. Mint leaves and a splash of rum.

  11. Years ago I got a handful of Avon decanters. One is a thimble which should indicate a ladies scent. It's filled with a root beer colored liquid that smells tarry and has a rose note. Mixed with Wild Country it's very very good. Unfortunately the thimble is unlabeled so I don't know what is in it. I have looked on Avon forums and none of the scents that came in a thimble have a scent profile that fits.:signs002:

  12. Is that the mix you gave me in the blue car decanter?

  14. Whatever it was, it might have gone off. I believe Avon's women's perfumes weren't as apt to hold up for decades like the a/s tend to.

Edit: this? Sounds like it could be a match.

I've tried Tai Winds, Spicy, Brisk Spice, Leather, and Wild Country. All vintage. All off the bay. Still have plenty left in the bottles of each. I bought a few extra bottles of Spicy and Brisk Spice. The latter is a great knockoff of the Fulton Old Spice.

I found Tai Winds very similar to Brut as well. Mixing them would be interesting, but I'm not sure that it would smell much different. I've heard people say that Tai Winds smells nothing like Brut. Oh well. Some people say Brut smells like Pinaud Clubman Original, but I detect no similarity whatsoever.

Wearing Spicy right now and loving it.

What other Avons should I try that are easy to get?

  18. 1/3 each in a 2 fl oz glass sprayer...

    Avon Excalibur a/s
    Avon Blend 7 a/s
    Coty Aspen cologne

Topped off the spray bottle with TSD Winter Pagoda splash. The green/wood/spice blend smells wonderful and got complimented at work.
  19. Island Lime. Classic.

Deep Woods...greenish, a little musky but not the powdery punch in the nose that WC can be. I used to dig it but now it's kinda meh. Can be found almost anywhere.

Tribute...one of their first big Avon For Men hits. Lavender opening is not bad but may be an acquired taste.

    Everest
...light, crisp, slightly woody. Safe to wear anywhere.

Oland...dark, rich, even smoky. Probably best not to be worn just anywhere, and beware of bottles that smell off. They are.

Try Bravo and Lover Boy at your own risk. Yikes.

  20. Island Lime isn't easy to find at a reasonable price but who knows it may show up in a future PIF. ;)

BTW I find Avon Clint and Avon Legacy Very nice as well.
