  2. Aw, you ruined a good Scotch. :) For a true warm up, I have one of the following.

    1) Hot Cocoa with Peppermint Schnapps
    2) Mulled Wine
    3) Warmed Sake

    Otherwise my favorite cocktail.

    1 1/2 oz. Thor's Hammer Vodka
    1/2 oz. Blue Curacao
    1/2 oz. Grand Marnier

  8. I generally take my drinks straight, but if I'm going to have a cocktail, it will be a Sazerac. Unless, of course, as is too often the case, the bartender doesn't know how to make one. In which case I'll have a Manhattan,made with Rye...

    Sazerac Cocktail Recipe:

    Crushed ice
    1 teaspoon absinthe, Pernod, or Herbsaint liqueur
    Ice cubes
    1 teaspoon sugar, 1 sugar cube, or 1 teaspoon simple syrup
    1 1/2 ounces rye whiskey
    3 dashed Peychaud's Bitters
    1 lemon peel twist

    Chill an old-fashioned glass by filling with crushed ice or refrigerate or freeze for at least 30 minutes. Add the Herbsaint, absinthe, or Pernod to the glass; swirl it around to coat the entire sides and bottom of the glass. Discard the excess.

    In a cocktail shaker, add 4 or 5 small ice cubes, sugar, rye whiskey, and bitters. Shake gently for about 30 seconds; strain into the prepared old-fashioned glass. Twist lemon peel over the drink and then place in the drink.

    Hemingway's drink recipe from the similarly titled novel.
    1 oz absinthe
    1 sugar cube
    5 oz champagne
    Mix the sugar and absinthe, slowly add champagne to the mixture and sip.
  12. My favorite, the gin Martini. It is said the drink was invented, so that men would have a civilized way, to drink raw gin.

    Again,it proves that necessity is the mother of invention.

    And before anyone beats me to it, a martini is like a womans breasts........one is not enough, three is too many.
  13. Seeing as how spring is upon us:

    The 'Real Margarita'(as ez as 1-2-3)

    3 oz Cuervo Gold tequila
    2 oz Grand Marnier
    1oz fresh lime juice
    kosher salt(coarse-for the glass rim)
    lime wedge
    cracked ice and ice cubes

    Mix the first 3 ingredients in an ice- filled shaker. Run lime wedge around rim of drinking glass, then dip into kosher salt; Fill cocktail glass with plenty of cracked ice; Pour shaker contents into cocktail glass; garnish with lime wedge and enjoy! BTW, the first person who mentions a frozen margarita gets it right in the jugular-real men do not drink frozen!

    RNB Sangria (Red):
    1 bottle Red wine (CabSauv)
    2 cups Sunny Deelight (Orange Juice)
    1 cup Brandy
    Add Sliced Oranges, lemons and limes to taste.
    Make 50 / 50 blend (1:1) with 7-up for tasty beverage :happy108

    Share with me your best mixes / concoctions.

    6 oz Clamato
    2 oz (shots) Vodka
    juice of 1/2 Lime
    1 tsp Dimitris Bloody mary mix (its a concentrate)
    cuppa big shakes Worchestershire sauce
    splash of Horseradish
    pinch 'O Celery Salt
    Pepper
    Bunch of ice

  19. I make a variation of a bloody mary and a ceasar.

    I use a large beer sleeve glass (16 oz I think?) with a few ice cubes
    Chilled Clamato (about 6-8 OZ)
    2 OZ of Vodka
    a few Olives (w/ pimento good, w/ blue cheese, better)
    a couple of pickled onions (yes, I like to eat this particular drink)
    a shake of worcestershire and tobasco
    a 1 tsp of prepared horseradish
    a wedge of lemon or lime
    S&P
    a slender stalk of celery

    Directions:
    To the chilled glass add ice, then vodka, then horseradish, squeeze lemon, worcestershire/tobasco, S&P. Mix well. Then add Clamato and mix again. Garnish with celery, onions and olives.

    DEE-lish.......... A great starter drink for a beer session. And as stated above, the best hangover cure. (maybe omit the horseradish if you are going this route though)
